The Objective

Turning financial complexity into user action

During Buen Fin 2025, one of the most important consumption moments in Mexico, Banco Azteca faced a key business challenge: getting users to complete a 16-step digital flow to apply for a cash loan.

In a financial category saturated with promotions, generating awareness was not enough. The brand needed to capture attention, build trust, and guide users through a decision-making process that often gets abandoned before completion.

In collaboration with Zenith Media and creative agency Selva, Banco Azteca designed a full-funnel strategy to guide users from discovery to conversion. The objective was clear: connect with adults in Mexico seeking credit solutions to finance their Buen Fin purchases and turn that interest into actual cash loan applications.

The Solution

Turning a loan application into a story worth watching

The strategy began with a powerful cultural insight: on TikTok, people consume stories. To stand out in a category often perceived as purely transactional, Banco Azteca transformed its loan offer into entertainment.

Inspired by the global popularity of Korean dramas, the campaign introduced a mini K-Drama series, where the storyline revolved around characters navigating life situations that ultimately led them to request a cash loan with Banco Azteca. The unexpected format immediately differentiated the brand in a crowded financial category, injecting humor, emotion, and cultural relevance into a topic typically associated with complex processes.

This storytelling approach allowed the brand to turn a financial procedure into content users genuinely wanted to watch and follow. The creative concept was supported by a full-funnel media strategy on TikTok, designed to guide users step by step through the journey:

  • TopView and Pulse generated large-scale awareness and immediate visibility during the peak Buen Fin moment.

  • Search Ads captured intent from users actively looking for financial solutions, reinforcing consideration.

  • Smart+ optimized conversion performance, helping drive users to complete the loan application process.

Running during the peak Buen Fin period from late November through early December of 2025, the campaign combined entertainment with performance-driven optimization, demonstrating how cultural storytelling can translate into measurable business impact.

The Results

Driving business results through storytelling

The campaign delivered great business and engagement results, proving that creativity and performance can work together even in complex financial categories.

TikTok became the digital medium with the highest growth for promoting the bank's loan placement opportunities during 2025, establishing itself as a key channel for generating conversions.

Key results included:

  • 259% ROI, the highest among all digital channels

  • +27x growth in loan placements in week one and +31x growth in week two

  • 30.2M impressions reaching 7.9M unique users

  • 11.6 seconds average watch time per user

Beyond performance metrics, the campaign earned industry recognition, winning Silver at the TikTok Ad Awards 2026 in the “Born to Perform” category.

The biggest takeaway was clear: even for complex financial products, when audiences want to watch the content, they are also willing to complete the process.
