About business registration
Last updated, April 2024

Business registration is a process that lets TikTok Business Accounts boost authenticity of their business to both the platform and users. Business Accounts that are registered signal credibility and trust with potential customers. Through the registration process, you can gain exclusive access to tools and features designed to help them find commercial success. Business Accounts of all types and sizes can apply for business registration.

Note: Business registration is different from the blue-checkmark profile indication, which is only for high-profile accounts such as celebrities and major brands.

Why should I register my Business Account?

Certain Business Account tools and features designed to help you find commercial success will now be exclusive to registered Business Accounts only. We are making this change to help ensure a safe, trustworthy, and vibrant experience for our users and businesses alike. Features limited to registered Business Accounts include:

  • Business Account Lead Generation

  • Destination Links (formerly known as Product Links)

  • App Download Links

  • Video Settings

Note: Feature limitations are subject to change. Some features are not available depending on your market or other account factors.

How do I register my Business Account?

The following describes the two ways for your Business Account to become registered. If you don't already have a Business Account, please refer to How to Switch to a TikTok Business Account.

  1. Manual application

    • On the TikTok app or on TikTok.com, go to Settings, select Business Suite, and click Business registration.

    • Upload the valid documentation as outlined to successfully submit your application for review. The list of documents may vary depending on your country.

    • Once your application is approved, you'll receive an in-app notification and a confirmation email sent to the email address tied to your TikTok Business Account. This typically takes 1-5 business days.

    • You can check the status of your application by visiting the Business registration page in Business Suite.

  2. System-level qualification

    • Certain Business Accounts that meet our platform-defined eligibility criteria may be labeled as a registered Business Accounts after assessment at our end. These accounts are evaluated based on factors such as existing blue-checkmark indication, commercial activities, and account risks, among others.

To gain the full benefits of a registered Business Account, we strongly suggest submitting via the above simple manual application, rather than relying on system-level qualification.

What happens once I register my business?

  1. Your company name and category details will be added to your Business Profile. Note: This only applies if you register using the manual application process above.

  2. You will unlock access to exclusive tools, like using Lead Generation forms and adding clickable CTA buttons on your profile to drive traffic to your app, among others.

Will I be aware of the restricted tools if I don't register my business?

Yes, if the tool is available in your region, it will appear in your Business Suite, but you won't be able to use it.

Is my business registration permanent once completed?

Upon successfully switching to registered Business Account, you must still follow TikTok's Community Guidelines. If our systems detect any violations, your status may be revoked, resulting in the loss of exclusive features for registered Business Accounts.

Transition information for existing Business Accounts

What is changing with the business registration process?

Business registration is a process that lets TikTok Business Accounts establish authenticity of their business to both the platform and users. We are updating the benefits that come with having a registered Business Account.

Business registration was optional until now. Has that changed?

Business registration was and still is an optional step. However, certain tools and features which were previously available to everyone will now be exclusive to registered Business Accounts. To keep using your favorite Business Account tools, please make sure to check and confirm your business registration status.

I am not a registered Business Account at the moment, what will happen to my account?

Existing Business Accounts may qualify for one of the following scenarios:

  1. Business Accounts that meet our platform-defined eligibility criteria may be immediately labeled as registered Business Accounts after a system-level qualification assessment at our end. These accounts are evaluated based on factors such as existing blue-checkmark indication, commercial activities, account risks, and other factors.

  2. Business Accounts that have not violated TikTok Community Guidelines may qualify for a 30-day trial period before losing access to tools and features exclusive to registered Business Accounts. At the end of the trial period, some accounts may qualify to undergo the system-level assessment, while others will be prompted straight to submit a manual application to ensure not losing access to the tools and features. For the former, if your account is deemed ineligible for system-level qualification after the assessment, the ability to submit a manual application continues to remain as an option.

Given that submitting a manual application is a simple process, we strongly suggest doing that during or immediately after the trial period, rather than relying on system-level qualification.

Note: The scenario your account qualifies for and the applicable trial end date varies depending on your account activities, risks, region, and other factors. Check your inbox messages or Business Suite for a prompt to know the specific details that apply to you.

What will happen to my existing features if I don't successfully complete business registration, either manually or system-level qualification?

If you do not successfully complete business registration, by either the manual process or our system-level qualification, you may lose access to tools and features exclusively available to registered Business Accounts.

  • Business Account Lead Generation - You will lose access to the organic Lead Generation Service. Additionally, TikTok will permanently delete lead data from our systems 90 days after receiving it. To download a copy of your existing lead data, go to Business Suite via desktop and click Leads manager.

  • Destination Links (formerly known as Product Links) - You will not be able to add external links using the Destination Links feature to your organic videos or at the top of the comments section, or access Destination Links data.

  • App Download Links - You will not have the option of adding a clickable App Download CTA button to your profile or Business Page.

  • Video Settings - You will not be able to geo-target your organic posts using the Video Setting functionality.

Note: Feature limitations are subject to change. Some features are not available depending on your market or other account factors.

If I don't meet the system-level qualification criteria once the trial period ends, is that decision permanent, or can I qualify in the future?

No, the decision is not permanent and you can also manually submit for business registration after the trial period ends. For system-level qualification, you have the chance to demonstrate the value and authenticity of your Business Account to the platform by staying active, using tools as intended, posting high-quality content, and following TikTok's Community Guidelines. After the trial period, the system re-assesses your qualification every 30 days, subject to change.

We want as many businesses as possible to qualify for business registration and enjoy everything that Business Accounts have to offer. However, to maintain a safe and trustworthy experience, we want to encourage businesses to provide greater transparency through registration.
