Beginning July 1st, 2022, we will begin changing how we calculate and measure Cost per View. Before this change, Cost per View was calculated as Cost per Thousand Views (CPMV). After this change, Cost per View will be calculated as Cost per (1) View (CPV).
In the coming days, you'll receive additional alerts in your TikTok for Business Notification Center about this change.
This change from CPMV to CPV will impact:
How you'll enter your bid when using the Video Views advertising objective and Bid cap bid strategy when optimizing for 2/6-second views.
How we report on Cost per result metrics for Video Views campaigns where the optimization goal is 2/6-second views.
With this change, when you select Bid Cap as your Bid Strategy for Video Views campaigns, you will need to enter a bid for a single 6-second or 2-second video view. Before this change, your bid was for every 1,000 views.
Once we update your account from CPMV to CPV, all reporting about the Cost per result for Video Views campaigns where the optimization goal is 2/6-second views will be expressed in terms of CPV.
To accommodate this change, we'll be adding additional decimal places to accurately display Cost per result for Video Views campaigns.
For example, $1 USD per thousand 6-second Video Views will be displayed as $0.001 USD per each 6-second Video View.
When we update your account, all instances of the former bidding method, CPMV, will be replaced by CPV on TikTok Ads Manager and other TikTok for Business platforms. This change will not impact the performance of your ongoing Video Views campaigns.
When you edit a historic Video Views ad group, you will be able to adjust your bid in terms of Cost per Thousand Views.
When you copy a historic Video Views ad group or campaign, you will need to re-enter a new bid in terms of CPV.
If your ad account is upgraded to CPV, before the update is fully launched, you will be unable to use the Bulk Import or Export to import/export View campaigns or ad groups that use CPV.
Once your account is updated to CPV, if you have any automated rules where the Condition's Optimization goal is 2 or 6-second views, and the trigger is Cost per result, you will need to update the Cost per result inputs to CPV manually.
