FAQs for Audience Insights

Last updated: February 2025

What is the difference between "Selected Audience" and "All Audience"?

"Selected Audience" shows the data for the audience that you filtered for. "All Audience" shows the total TikTok audience, which is the average of all audiences for the selected country/countries only.

What is Audience Insights based on?

Audience Insights is based on all TikTok data (paid and organic). Audience demographics, location, interests, device, and activity are estimated based on factors such as user behavior on the app, the information provided by users, and device information. The accuracy of such insights may vary with the information provided. In using or relying on such insights when planning your campaign, you agree that these estimates are not a guarantee of results.

Device price information is estimated based on the user agent of the user and may become more inaccurate over time. Estimated prices are based on the lowest device price in USD across all markets at the time the device is launched.

Note:

  • Any categories that have less than 3% of users are combined under "Others".

  • Categories that have an audience size of less than 1000 are not exposed. This applies to any category of data (ex. age, gender) and the TikTok Custom Audience itself.

What does my category mean?

The best way to learn more about each category is to click on each interest category to see its sub-categories. For example, under the "Games" category, there are the "Monetization", "Platform", and "Genre" sub-categories.

The Monetization sub-category has further sub-category breakdowns, including IAP (in-app purchase) and IAA (in-app ads). Similarly, the Platform subcategory includes the mobile and PC gaming sub-category breakdowns. As a further example, Genre refers to the the genre of the game, such as simulation, hyper-casual, etc.
