How to Manage Comments on TikTok Ads Manager

The Comment Management tool allows you to view, reply to, like, block, pin, export, hide and filter the comments made on your ads directly on TikTok Ads Manager. You can use these features to manage comments individually or in bulk.


You can also create a Blocked Word list, which the system will use to automatically use to hide comments that contain a Blocked Word.


There are two ways to access the Comment Management tool on TikTok Ads Manager:


  • ​Go to Assets > Comments

  • ​Go to Campaign > Ad Group List and select an Ad Group, click the three dots and click Comments

To do this, select the TikTok Comments module from the side bar and then click on the Select an ad group bar to select an Ad Group from a list or search for one by name.


From the TikTok Comments module, you will be able to view the following dimensions about each comment:

  1. ​Content of Comment

  2. ​Your Response: Replied, Pinned, or Didn't Reply or Pin

  3. ​Sentiment: Positive or Negative

  4. ​Contains Question: Yes or No

  5. Status: Publish, Hidden, or Hidden (Contains blocked word)

  6. Type: Comment or Reply

  7. ​# Of Replies

  8. ​# Of Likes

  9. ​Created on

  10. Ad: Ad Name and Ad ID

  11. Ad Group: Ad Group Name and Ad Group ID

  12. Campaign: Campaign Name and Campaign ID

Filter comments

Once you have pulled up the comments for a specific ad group, you can filter comments by the following criteria:

  • ​To filter comments by Status, click the Filter By button, select Status and then check All, Public and/or Hidden, and then click Apply.

  • ​To filter comments by Type, click the Filter By button, select Type, then check All, Comment, and/or

    Reply, then click Apply.

Next, after selecting the comments to review, you can manage them by changing their visibility status or exporting them.

Manage individual comments

The following actions are supported for managing individual comments:

To change the visibility status of a single comment

Select a comment, then click Hide or Unhide - depending on the comment status. You will be unable to change the status of a comment that contains a blocked word.

To export a single comment

Click the check mark next to the Content of Comment and then click the Export button.

To view the details of a single comment

Select the comment then under the Content of Comment column, click the View Details button - here you will be able to watch the Ad, see the Ad Details, the Ad Group ID, and view any Comments and Replies.

To pin a comment to the top of the ad

Select the Content of Comment, and click Pin. If you have already pinned a comment to the top of the ad, you can replace it with a new one. To pin comments to the top of Spark Ads, you will need the authorization to use the Identity that created the ad. To receive authorization, reach out to the owner of the TikTok account. You will be directed to the authorization page if you already have access to the Identity but have not received permission to manage comments.

To reply to a comment

Select the Content of Comment and click Reply, then type in your reply or use a saved response. Within the comment section, the system will display your reply as the Identity used to create the ad. To reply to comments on Spark Ads, you will need the authorization to use the Identity that created the ad. You will be directed to the authorization page if you already have access to the Identity but have not received permission to manage comments.

Note:

  1. For Spark Ads created with "Use account owned by you", only the user who is linked with the TikTok Account can reply to comments. 

  2. ​For Spark Ads created with authorized account or post, only the user who has access to the authorized account or post can reply to comments.

To like a comment

Select the Content of Comment, and click Like. The system will display your liked comment by a solid heart icon, state as Liked, and add a Liked by creator label. To unlike a comment, click the Liked button.

Manage comments in bulk

The following actions are supported for managing comments in bulk:

  • ​To change the visibility status of multiple comments, click the box next to the Content of Comment column and then select an action, Hide or Unhide.

  • ​To bulk export comments, make a selection of individual comments or select them all, then click the Export button.

    • ​All the supported comment dimensions will be included in the export.

    • ​Only the XLS format is supported.

Block users

You can block users to automatically hide all of their new and existing comments made on your ads. A blocked user can still comment, but are only made visible to them.

To block a user

Select the Content of Comment and click Block User. The system will now automatically hide all of their new and exiting comments made on your ads. To unblock a user and make their comments visible again, click the Unblock User button.


Alternatively, you can manage and manually block users from the Block Users section in Assets. You must block users from your TikTok Ads account by using their TikTok ID.

Manage Blocked words

The Comment Management tool supports the ability to automatically hide comments that contain Blocked Words on your ads. To create a Blocked Words list, you will need to go to Assets > Comments and select the Blocked Words module.


From the Blocked Words page you will be able to Add, Edit, Delete, and Export Blocked Words.

To add a Blocked Word

  1. ​Click the Add button.

  2. ​Then type in your Blocked Words separated by commas.

  3. ​Once you have entered in your words, click Confirm.


Note: Blocked Words supports a max of 500 words and a max of 30 Latin characters for each blocked word.

To edit a single Blocked Word

  1. ​Select a word to remove.

  2. ​Under the Action column, click Edit.

  3. ​Update the text and click confirm.

To delete a single Blocked Word

  1. ​Select a word to remove.

  2. ​Under the Action column, click Delete.


Note: Deleting a Blocked Word will cause the comments with the Status of Hidden (Blocked Word) to turn to Public.

To export a single Blocked Word

  1. ​Check the box next to the Blocked Word column.

  2. ​Click the Export button.

To apply actions in bulk

  1. ​Select all the Blocked Words or make a selection by checking the box next to the Blocked Word column.

  2. ​To remove Blocked Words from the list, click Delete.

  3. ​To export Blocked Words, click Export.


Blocked Word logic

Only comments that contain the Blocked Word or are accurately equal to the Blocked Word will be automatically hidden from your comments. Reference the table below to see how the Blocked Words will be applied based on the filtered keyword.
