Why Some Ads Are Rejected After They Are Approved
Last updated, December 2022

TikTok has strict policies to protect users from fake, fraudulent, or misleading advertising. Advertiser accounts and paid advertising are held to these policies and must follow our Community Guidelines, Advertising Guidelines, and Terms of Service. In the second quarter of 2021, we rejected 1,829,219 ads for violating advertising policies and guidelines ensuring that these ads do not appear on our platform.

We have protective measures implemented on TikTok that combine innovative content moderation technology with a robust human moderation team to enforce our Community Guidelines, Terms of Service, and Advertising Policies as well as to respond to user reports.

A previously approved ad can be selected for another review for a variety of reasons, including whether people hide, block, report, or otherwise provide negative feedback about the ad. If an ad is found to violate our policies upon additional review, the ad will be suspended and the advertiser will receive a notification.

We are committed to building a positive, authentic, and joyful experience when it comes to seeing advertising on TikTok, and we will continue to invest in more people and technology to ensure advertising on our platform meets our standards.
