About Automated Product Ads

Before you start: Automated Product Ads feature is available to invited TikTok Shops.


Automated Product Ads enable advertisers to promote products through images and videos.


TikTok users may see the ads in search results, Shopping Center feed, and TikTok in-feed videos. The ads are delivered in the form of product images, product information from product details pages (PDP), and videos from your connected TikTok accounts. TikTok users can browse the advertised products and buy them in your shop.


Automated Product Ads can only be created in the Seller Center.

    • Automated Product Ads automatically use the images & descriptions from PDPs as well as videos from your connected TikTok accounts as ad creatives without requiring additional creative uploading.


Steps to use Automated Product Ads

Manage Ad Account(s)

  1. Go to Seller Center and click the Ads tab on the left.

  2. The primary ad account is the ad account whose reporting appears in the Ads Dashboard. Campaign is also created in the primary ad account, and campaign spending happens in the primary ad account.

    • If the seller does not have any ad account, the system will direct the seller to complete the ad account creation in the Seller Center.

    • If the seller already has one ad account, the system will assign that ad account as the primary ad account.

    • If the seller already has multiple ad accounts, a pop-up window will appear for the seller to assign a primary ad account.

  3. The seller can change the primary ad account at any time. Changing the primary ad account does not affect ads run in any of the ad accounts. Sellers can run ads in multiple ad accounts at once. To change the primary ad account and manage ad account(s), click the button circled in red below:

Top up Ad Account balance

  1. Go to Seller Center and click the Ads tab on the left. To top up your balance or manage payment details, click the button circled in red below:

Create Automated Product Ads

  1. Go to Seller Center and click the Ads tab on the left. Click Create Campaign:

  2. Select Products marketing goal and Product Ads optimization mode:

  3. Select bid strategy. There are 2 options:

    • Control minimum ROAS threshold (default) requires the advertiser to enter a minimum ROAS threshold. The system will aim to maximize the GMV subject to this minimum ROAS threshold, and may not fully spend the budget.

    • Maximize purchase GMV does not require the advertiser to enter a minimum ROAS threshold. The system will aim to maximize GMV using the budget provided.

  4. Select placement. There are 2 options:

    • Automatic placements: Automatic placements use all the available placements to automatically offer you the best results for your ads. In this mode, the system can explore and learn from the most extensive audience scope and place your ads across various surfaces, including search results, Shopping Center feed, and TikTok "For You" feed.

    • Shopping Center: Shopping Center recommendations, Shopping Center search results, and other placements in the Shopping Center.

    • You can see your ad preview for different placements.

  5. Select the product images and video posts to automatically be used to promote your products:

    • Select products you want to promote from your TikTok Shop. These products' images and descriptions may be used in the ads.

      • Promoting all products means that the system will automatically choose the most relevant product(s) from the shop to advertise to TikTok users.

      • Selecting specific products means that the system will choose from within the list of products that the advertiser manually selected (1-50), to advertise to TikTok users.

      • Select available TikTok accounts to leverage the posts of the accounts. These posts may be used in the ads. If any of the selected products are anchored in the posts, the corresponding posts may be chosen for ad delivery.

  6. Set ad budget, schedule, and campaign name, then click Publish:

Read Reporting & Optimize

  1. Go to Seller Center and click the Ads tab on the left. See reporting overview and breakdown by campaign. Metrics available:

    • Cost

    • Product Details Page Views

    • Purchases

    • GMV

    • ROAS

    • Impressions

    • Clicks

    • CPM

    • CPC

    • Cost Per Purchase

    • CTR

    • Purchases per Click

  2. Edit the campaign if needed.
