About budget scheduling

Last updated: March 2026

Budget scheduling is a feature that gives you the ability to plan and automate time-based budget increases for your Smart+ Sales campaigns. It is designed to help you efficiently scale your ad spend to capture demand during peak periods, such as holidays, promotional events, or high-traffic weekends.By scheduling your budget changes in advance, you can save time on manual campaign adjustments and ensure your campaigns are optimized to spend when it matters most.

Benefits of budget scheduling

  • Improve efficiency: Save time by setting up your budget increases ahead of time, eliminating the need for last-minute manual changes.

  • Capture peak demand: Automatically increase your budget to align with sales, new product launches, or other key promotional periods.

  • Maintain control: Plan your budget strategy in advance to scale your campaigns gracefully while keeping your spending on track.

Availability of budget scheduling

Budget Scheduling is available for campaigns that meet the following criteria:

  • Campaign Objective: Sales

  • Campaign Type: Smart+

  • Budget Type: Daily Budget

  • Destinations: Website, App, or Website & App

Note: For campaigns using Campaign Budget Optimization (CBO), scheduling is set at the campaign level. For campaigns not using CBO, scheduling is set at the ad group level.

Key concepts of budget scheduling

  • Scheduled period: You can set up to 10 distinct time periods for budget increases, with a maximum scheduling window of three months in advance. Scheduled periods cannot overlap.

  • Increase limits: You can increase your budget by a specific dollar amount or a percentage. The maximum allowed increase is 8 times (8x) the base daily budget, or 800%.

  • Learning phase: This feature is a tool for efficient execution and does not override TikTok's standard optimization and delivery models. Significant budget changes may still cause an ad group to re-enter the learning phase.
