About keyword quality in TikTok Ads Manager

High quality keywords are relevant words or phrases that match your ad creative. Unrelated keywords can diminish the quality of the ad group and reduce campaign efficiency for ads served on the Search Results Page.

Note: Keywords serve as a targeting method for search campaign ads, but not a guarantee of traffic.

Benefits

The more closely your ad aligns with your keywords, the better its quality. Strong ad quality improves your chances of attracting valuable traffic, which can lead to more meaningful conversions. You can increase ad quality by removing irrelevant keywords or adjusting creatives to better match the keywords.

Keyword quality module and Search volume

Search volume is an estimated number of searches that your keywords get each month in the targeting country. The Keyword Quality module appears during campaign creation with a label for search volume.

Note: This number may change according to your match type setting.

There are 3 labels for the search volume:

  • High

  • Medium

  • Low

Based on the selected ad group keywords and their settings, a label will display to help you recognize its comparable size within the accounts' industry vertical of the targeting country. We recommend maintaining a "high" label for search volume in order to achieve the best performance of your ad group.

Note: This label is only displayed for certain industries. If it's not available for you, we recommend aiming for a search volume of at least 1M monthly searches per ad group.

Search volume tips

When the search volume label is "medium" or "low":

  • Broad match can help to maximize the search volume.

  • Add at least 20 relevant keywords. Avoid including irrelevant keywords or vague descriptions (such as shoes versus running shoes).

  • Use "broad match" as the default keyword match type for all keywords, as it helps to increase flexibility and drive more impression.
