How to create ads with the Bulk Import feature using a reference file

Last updated: February 2025

The Bulk Import feature allows you to create ads by uploading a CSV or Excel file with your campaign, ad group, and ad data to TikTok Ads Manager.

The following are template preparation requirements:

  • Template Structure (Header):

    • Do not delete or edit any headers: Your file will fail to import if these are changed.

    • Not all fields are mandatory: You can leave certain fields blank

  • Automated Creative Optimization Ads:

    • Non-ACO Creative: One Ad per row

    • ACO Creative: One Ad Group per row

  • File Size:

    • Max 2MB

    • 500 rows

  1. Go to Ads Manager.

  2. Click Campaign at the top of your dashboard.

  3. Click the checkmark next to the campaign, ad group or ad you want to use as a reference.

  4. Click Bulk Import & Export. Find Export and click Selected Ads. You can also export all of your ads at once.

  5. Click the Export Ads icon.

  6. Your export will include two sheets:

    1. Ads

    2. Export Issues

  7. Open your export file.

  8. Make desired edits. You can duplicate rows to copy all the settings of an existing ad. You can create as many rows as you want. We recommend 500 rows.

    1. rows = ads

  9. To create new ads, remove the Campaign, Ad-Group, and Ads IDs.

  10. Adjust the start time.

  11. Name and save the file.

  12. To import your file, go to Ads Manager and click Campaign.

  13. Click Bulk Import & Export.

  14. Click Import Ads.

  15. Choose your CSV or Excel file and click Upload.

Your ads will appear in the Campaign tab. To learn more, visit How to Create Ads Using a Blank Template.
