Automated rules let you create rule-based tasks to automatically check and manage your campaigns, ad groups, and ads on TikTok Ads Manager. You can use Automated Rules to monitor and adjust your campaigns in real-time. In this article, you'll learn how to create a new rule.
Note: If you create a rule using a template, you can still adjust the rule's settings as you see fit.
Automated rules are not supported for reservation ads, Promote ads, and campaigns created on TikTok Shop Seller Center.
When you select to apply Automated Rules to campaigns, ad groups, or ads, if your account exceeds 500 items in any category, only the 500 most recently created will be included in the rule's scope. The 500 item limit corresponds with your select tier individually.
To create automated rules:
Log in to TikTok Ads Manager.
Click Campaigns in the top menu.
Click Automated Rules and choose Create a New Rule.
You can choose the following:
Create a custom rule: Create a rule without a template.
Schedule delivery: Turn on your ad at a specific time.
Unlock potential: Raise the bid for ads with the potential to get more results.
Enhance performance: Increase the budget for ads that are performing well.
Control budget: Turn off ads with unexpectedly high costs.
Control cpa: Turn off underperforming ad groups
Get conversions: Raise the bid so ad groups can get more conversions
Boost high performing Maximum Delivery ads: Increase the budget for high performing ad groups that use a maximum delivery bid
Boost well performing Cost Cap ads: Increase the budget for high performing ad groups that use a cost cap bid strategy
Go to Apply rule to and choose the campaigns, ad groups or ads you want to apply your rule to.
Define the conditions that will trigger your rule to be applied. Each rule supports up to five conditions.
Set the Action that you want to take when the condition is met.
In the Rule settings section, choose how often you'd like to check if your rule conditions have been met.
Continuously: Run the rule every 30 minutes.
Custom: Customize the schedule to run the rule every 30 minutes on specific days and time periods.
Once: Run the rule at a specific date and time. This rule will be automatically turned off after running.
Turn on the Notify Me setting to receive an email when your rule conditions are met. Use the Recipients field to add members of your Business Center to the send list.
Choose your notification schedule. If you choose to receive notifications at a specific time, you can select up to three times during the day to receive notifications when your rule conditions are met.
You can also turn on Also notify me if conditions aren't met to receive an email every time the rule runs, even if the conditions are not met.
Name your rule and click Complete.
You can manage your automated rules in the Campaign tab in TikTok Ads Manager, or apply your automated rule to your campaigns, ad groups or ads.
When creating or editing an automated rule, if you select Custom or Once under Run Schedule, a timezone converter will appear to allow selecting a different timezone. The default timezone in the converter will match your account's timezone. If a different timezone is selected, the tool will auto convert the time to your account's selected timezone, and subsequently the last run result, creation time, action history, and change log will all display time in terms of account's time zone after conversion.
Note: Regarding daylight savings time (DST), if a scheduled run time overlaps with a DST change, the rule will remain aligned to the selected UTC time, not the shifted DST time. For example, during DST, an account with timezone UTC-08:00 America/Los_Angeles will default to UTC-08:00 Alaska Daylight Time (United States) instead of UTC-07:00 Pacific Daylight Time, running an hour earlier in the local time to align with the original UTC.
