This article outlines cancellation, payment and automatic timeout processes for Projects in TikTok One. It applies to videos procured by TikTok and created by both creators and partners, and is designed to help you understand key rules and operational guidelines to ensure smooth project management.
In this article:
Project: Means a TikTok One project involving an advertiser and a content provider, which will comprise one or more Orders.
Order: Means any individual order within a Project.
Note: An advertiser may choose to manually review an Order. If an advertiser chooses to manually review an Order but they do not expressly approve or reject such Order, approval will be deemed if there is no response after 14 days.
This article does not apply to Creator Content at Scale campaigns.
This section 1 relates to Projects in which TikTok invites creators to join via their own TikTok One account in-app.
Cancellation of a Project is initiated through TikTok One and must be accepted by both the advertiser and the content creator (whether a partner or creator), procured by TikTok.
This cancellation policy only applies to Projects initiated via the TikTok One platform and only to Orders that are agreed within a Project. Any private arrangement made directly between you and an advertiser and not TikTok is not in scope of this article and any cancellation terms must be agreed with them separately.
The payment due for a cancelled Project will depend on the stage in which the cancellation has been communicated and the work already completed.
Before an order: No refund or payment will be due until an Order has been agreed within a Project. Any Project can be cancelled, before an Order has been agreed.
Before content submission: If you cancel your participation in a Project before submitting content or you fail to provide the content by the Project deadline, then you will not be due any payment for the Project. If the Project is cancelled by TikTok after an Order has been agreed, but before you have submitted the content, you will still receive a minimum payment of 10% of the total fee due. Any further payment will be made at TikTok's discretion.
After content submission: Once you have submitted the content for the Project, if the Project is subsequently cancelled, you will receive a minimum of 50% of the total payment. TikTok may increase the payment depending on the degree to which the content meets the specifications of the Project, at its discretion. If the content was delivered and approved by the advertiser before cancellation of the Project, you will receive full payment.
This section 2 relates to Projects where creators are not invited to join via their own TikTok One accounts in-app and instead are managed off-app by partners. In this section 2, Order delivery begins when at least one creator working with the relevant partner has accepted a collaboration invitation to participate in the relevant Order. If this is the case, this constitutes an Open Order.
Cancellations can be initiated through TikTok One. Once reviewed, TikTok will generate a corresponding cancellation request for the advertiser to accept or decline.
If a cancellation request is declined by the receiving party, the Project will continue.
If a cancellation request is accepted by the receiving party, any Open Orders must be completed (in other words, they need to proceed to the complete status in TikTok One) before the cancellation is effective and any payments are made.
Before starting order delivery: If you or the applicable advertiser cancels before you have started to deliver an Order then no payment will be due.
Before project completion: If a Project is cancelled after one or more Orders have been delivered, but the Project remains incomplete (in other words there are still Orders that have not been delivered) you will still be paid for the Orders completed. For example, if you have delivered 50% of the Orders under the Project, you will be entitled to 50% of the total fee.
After order delivery: You will be entitled to 100% of the total fee if all Orders have been delivered under a Project.
You will be notified promptly via the platform or email in the event that your Project has been cancelled.
For questions or disputes related to the cancellation of a Project, use the platform’s official support channels or email tiktokone@bytedance.com to submit a request.
