How to transition to SAN for existing apps

Last updated: September 2024

TikTok's Self-Attributing Network (SAN) is an advanced network integration with Mobile Measurement Partner (MMP) that enables:

  • Better visibility into TikTok’s true contribution to app performance campaign outcomes.

  • More accurate conversion recognition and reporting in TikTok Ads Manager, without any impact on your existing MMP final attribution logic.

Starting September 9, 2024, all active apps on TikTok Ads Manager must be on TikTok SAN to be used in new ad groups or campaigns. Advertisers can transition to SAN through the self-transition process.

How to transition to SAN for existing apps

1. Open TikTok Ads Manager and create a new campaign.

2. In the ad group settings, under the App section, hover over the notification icon and click Migrate to SAN to start the self-transition process.

Note: You can also access the self-transition process from the Tasks card in TikTok Events Manager or the app listing page by hovering over the notification icon and clicking Migrate to SAN to start transitioning your apps

3. Make sure that SAN events are set up correctly in your MMP account. Self-attributing Mobile Measurement Partner (MMP) integrations are available on the following MMPs. To get started, refer to one of the MMP help center articles below, or reach out to both your TikTok sales representative and MMP representative to request setup support.

4. When you have finished setting up SAN events, go back to TikTok Events Manager and click Next to go to the next step.

5. It may take a few hours for the data postback if it's the first time you set up SAN events for the app. Click Next once TikTok receives events from the MMP.

6. Follow the user flow to confirm the MMP and other information and complete self-migration.

7. Click Finish to successfully transition your App to SAN.

After the transition, newly attributed conversions will start showing up in the new network. Cost and impression data, as well as in-app events credited to older installs, may still be displayed in the legacy network. Do not disconnect the legacy integration on your MMP.
