About budget strategy for your upgraded Smart+ experience

Last updated: January 2026

The upgraded Smart+ experience provides you with greater flexibility in budget strategy, enabling more diverse approaches.

You can choose between the following budget strategies for your upgraded Smart+ campaign:

  • Campaign budget: Enter one budget and we'll automatically allocate it to the best opportunities across your campaign. This can help maximize results by fully supporting top-performing ad groups, and avoiding excess spending on ones that may be under-performing. This strategy is also known as campaign budget optimization (CBO).

  • Ad group budget: Manually enter different budgets for each ad group you create. This option allows you to have precise control over how much budget you want to spend on each ad group. It's often used to meet a specific business goal or spend objective.

Note: When using an automatic campaign budget strategy, bid adjustments will apply to all ad groups. Additionally, if you run an automatic budget campaign, all ad groups must have the same optimization location, goal, and event.
