How to copy an ad in TikTok Ads Manager

Last updated: August 2024

TikTik supports copying ads to allow you to reuse an existing ad. The settings will be duplicated and you can edit them.

Before you begin

  • You can copy a draft or published ad into multiple ad groups under different campaigns in the campaign creation user flow or on the campaign list.

  • You can copy ads that are in the review or rejected status.

  • You cannot copy an ad to or from a campaign that is running a split test. You also cannot activate the split test feature while copying an ad.

  • Copied ads go into review after being duplicated. This won't affect the performance of the original ad.

How to copy an ad in TikTok Ads Manager

There are two ways to copy an ad. The first way is from your Campaign list:

  1. Under the Ad tab, hover over the ad you want to copy and click the copy icon.

  2. Select where you want to copy the ad and customize the name of each copy. You can choose a new or existing ad group, or a new or existing ad campaign.

  3. Specify the number of copies you want to make.

    • Note: There is a maximum of 50 ads per ad group. If you copy an ad to an existing ad group that currently has 10 ads in it, you can generate up to 40 copies of the ad.

The other way by which to copy an ad is within your campaign creation flow:

  1. On the left-hand side menu, for the ad you wish to copy, either click the copy icon or click the icon and choose Copy ad.

  2. In the pop up window, select the ad group(s) you'd like to copy the ad to within the campaign

  3. Specify the number of copies you want to make.

  4. Click Copy.

Note: When you duplicate an ad to an ad group with a different placement, some settings may change. For example, elements of your ad, such as videos or images, may be removed. Please double-check the details at the ad level to see if changes have been made.
