How to create a Carousel Ad in TikTok Ads Manager

Carousel Ads are an ad format that allows you to showcase multiple images in a single ad, providing people a more engaging experience. Follow the steps to create a Carousel Ad in TikTok Ads Manager. Additionally, you now have the option to build and manage your carousel assets centrally before campaign setup. Before you begin

Before you create a Carousel Ad, ensure you have the following:

  • Clear objectives for your ad campaign, such as Traffic, Web Conversions, App Promotion, or Reach (Auction).

  • Prepared image assets, with up to 35 images ready for upload.


How to Create a Carousel Ad

To create your Carousel Ad:

  1. Initiate a new campaign.

  2. Choose a supported Advertising Objective: Traffic, Web Conversions, or App Promotion.

  3. Select the appropriate promotion type: Traffic (App or Website), Website conversions, or App promotion.

  4. For Identity, turn off Use TikTok account to deliver Spark Ads for Non-Spark Ads or turn on for Spark Ads.

  5. Choose the Carousel ad format.

  6. Upload your image assets. You can upload images directly from your computer or select from the image library.

  7. Utilize the preview tool on the left side to see how your Carousel will appear.

  8. Edit or delete images as necessary using the buttons on the right side of the images.

  9. The Smart Cover Image Selection feature is enabled by default, optimizing the cover image based on performance. You can disable this feature if preferred.

  10. Enhance your ad by adding music, either from the TikTok library or by uploading your own.


Your Carousel Ad is ready to launch. If you need to make adjustments or add more images, you can always edit your ad in the TikTok Ads Manager.


How to use a Carousel asset in a Campaign

You can select your previously saved carousel assets directly during the ad creation process.

  1. When setting up your campaign, navigate to the Ad level.

  2. Under Ad creative, click Add creatives.

  3. Select the Creative Library tab.

  4. Click on the Carousels sub-tab to view and select from your saved carousel assets.

  5. Choose the carousel you want to use and click Confirm. The asset is now added to your ad.
