How to use Destination Links

Destination Links enable brands to create a new path to purchase and drive incremental conversions on their own website. You can create Destination Links, add them to organic videos and Spark Ads, and remove them from videos. See an overview of the features and benefits of Destination Links.


Before getting started

Destination Links are only available to certain customers, with prerequisites related to TikTok Pixel and registering your Business Account. Please see the availability of Destination Links in the overview of Destination Links.


How to create Destination Links within TikTok Business Suite

  1. Access the in-app Business Suite by going to your Profile within TikTok, go to the Menu, and click Business Suite.

  2. Click Destination Links.

  3. Click Create.

  4. Fill out link details and connect the Pixel. Learn more about TikTok Pixel.

  5. Click Submit.

After the Destination Link is submitted to review, it can take approximately 6 hours to be approved.


How to add Destination Links to organic videos

You can add Destination Links to organic videos in three ways:

  1. To add a Destination Link to a new organic video, you must use the TikTok app.

  2. To add a Destination Link to an existing organic video, you must use the desktop TikTok Business Suite.

  3. To add a Destination Link to a Spark Ad, you must use TikTok Ads Manager.


How to add a Destination Link to a new organic video

  1. After the approval of your Destination Link, create a new organic video in the TikTok app.

  2. From the Post module, click Add Link, and then select Destination Link.

  3. Click Add to select the Destination Link you want to attach to the video.

    1. Note: Your video must use a commercial sound from the Commercial Music Library. Learn more about the Commercial Music Library.

  4. Select a Call to Action to display and click Add.

  5. Finish creating your video and click Post.

Users will now be directed to your external landing page when they click your Destination Link.


How to add a Destination Link to an existing organic video

  1. After the approval of your Destination Link, log into the desktop Business Suite. To learn more about Business Suite and its features, see the overview of Business Suite.

  2. Click the Destination Link module on the left.

  3. Click Details or Attach Video on the link you want to add, and then select +.

  4. Select the existing video(s) to attach the Destination Link to.

    1. You can sort videos by Most Recent or Most Liked.

  5. Select a Call to Action to display.

    1. Each video under one Destination Link can have a different Call to Action.

  6. Review details and click Add.


How to add Destination Links to a new Spark Ad

To add a Destination Link to a new Spark Ad, you must choose a few selections during specific steps of Spark Ads creation:

  1. Advertising objective: select Website conversions.

  2. Optimization event: If you are in the e-commerce industry, select Complete Payment. If you are not in the e-commerce industry, you may select View Content.

  3. Ad details: Choose the video that you want to attach a Destination Link to.

  4. Destination: Choose URL as your destination, filling in the URL, and turning on Organic anchor.

Note: You cannot add a Destination Link to an existing Spark Ad.


How to remove Destination Links from videos

There are two ways to remove Destination Links from videos: via the TikTok app and via the desktop Business Suite.

How to remove a Destination Link from a video in the TikTok app

  1. Access the in-app Business Suite by going to your Profile within TikTok, go to the Menu, and click Business Suite.

  2. Tap Destination Links to see your Destination Link repository.

  3. Tap ... at the top-right corner of the link that you want to detach a Destination Link for.

  4. Tap Delete.

  5. Confirm the detached link and tap Delete. Note: Links under review cannot be deleted.

How to remove a Destination Link from a video in the desktop Business Suite

  1. Log into the desktop Business Suite.

  2. Click the Destination Link module on the left.

  3. Click Details on the link you want to detach the Destination Link for.

  4. Select Delete.

  5. Confirm the detached link and select Delete.
