Creative specifications for Streaming Ads

Streaming Ads are a suite of performance advertising tools on TikTok, purpose-built for streaming service advertisers. Streaming Ads support two creative formats: Media Card and Multi-Show Experience. This article covers the creative specifications for each format.

Creative specifications for Media Card

Video creative

  • Follows standard in-feed video ad creative guidelines

Card image

  • The card image is the cover image of the streaming library title.

  • You can have one card image per title, which is added to the media and entertainment catalog using the image_link field.

  • Your catalog must have ≥ 5 assets/rows, although ≥ 10 is strongly recommended.

  • When adding to catalog via CSV upload, the image link must be configured via file hosting link. This must be a direct link to download the image file, not a link to a media player such as YouTube. Test the link in your browser to make sure it prompts an image file download

  • Images must be 2:3 aspect ratio and 500x750 px or larger in size. For details, see Product Image Requirements

Title

  • Name of the streaming library title as it appears on streaming platform.

  • You can have one title per streaming title, which is added to your media and entertainment catalog using the title field.

  • The title can extend to a maximum of 2 lines for display. If longer than that, it will be truncated (after 35 characters).

Rating and review

  • IMDb rating and reviews count (number)

  • You can have one rating and review per streaming title, which is added to your media and entertainment catalog using the qid field.

  • May be toggled on/off in the TikTok Ads Manager Card Editor

Custom/Selling point label

  • You can have two custom/selling point labels per streaming title.

  • You may assign two out of the six following catalog fields to the Primary and Secondary card labels in the TikTok Ads Manager Card Editor:

    • genre (required): a maximum of 5 (separated by comma) are allowed. Note: The genre must come from a list of pre-approved values. Refer to available fields for Streaming Ads catalog to learn more.

    • custom_label_2

    • custom_label_3

    • custom_label_4

  • You can use custom labels to communicate a 1-4 word value proposition or call out associated with each title.

  • Custom labels will cut off at different character lengths on Media Card, depending on which card label position (Primary or Secondary) the catalog field is assigned to in the TikTok Ads Manager ad-level card editor:

    • Primary label: 24 character cutoff

    • Secondary label: 22 character cutoff

  • Examples of custom labels include:

    • Emmy-awarded show

    • Oscar-nominated Media

    • Top picks in comedy

    • New release

CTA Button

  • Configured in TikTok Ads Manager.

  • You may select from a menu of available options.

  • You can customize the color in the TikTok Ads Manager Card Editor.

Caption

  • Configured in TikTok Ads Manager.

  • Truncated at 1 line for display.

  • Will be obscured by the Media Cards once they begin scrolling.

  • Recommended maximum number of characters: 35.

Creative specifications for Multi-Show Experience

Important: The 3x4 aspect ratio is strongly recommended for both video and image creatives.

Video tile

  • You are allowed one video tile per streaming title, which is added to your media and entertainment catalog using the video_link field.

  • When adding to catalog via CSV upload, the video link must be configured via file hosting link. This must be a direct link to download the video file, not a link to a video player such as YouTube. Make sure to test the link in your browser to make sure it prompts a video file download.

  • Aspect ratio: 3:4 (vertical) or 9:16 (vertical)

  • Length: 6–15s (shorter length recommended)

  • Size: 720x960px or larger

  • Resolution: ≥ 720p (HD)

  • Recommended bitrate for TikTok placement: ≥ 516 kbps

Cover image

  • You are allowed one cover image per streaming title, which is added to your media and entertainment catalog using the image_link field.

  • When adding to catalog via CSV upload, the cover image link must be configured via file hosting link. This must be a direct link to download the image file, not a link to a media player such as YouTube. Test the link in your browser to make sure it prompts an image file download

  • Aspect ratio: 3:4 (vertical) or 9:16 (vertical)

  • Size: 720x960px or larger

  • Must be in JPG or PNG format

Title

  • Uploaded to Entertainment Catalog via the title field

  • Truncated at 1 line for display

  • Recommended maximum number of characters: 20

Caption

  • Configured in TikTok Ads Manager

  • Truncated at 1 line for display

  • Recommended maximum number of characters: 35
