How to pause a split test

A Split Test allows you to test two different versions of your ads to determine which one performs best and to improve future campaigns. You'll have the option of pausing an ad group within your split test manually or when the system picks a winning ad group for you.


Note: It is best practice to wait for the system to select a winner of a Split Test before pausing one ad group and only running the other ad group.


Before you begin

Making changes to your ad group after your split test started may impact its results or cause the ad group to go into review again. It is recommended not to change your test settings after it has started.


Pausing an ad group is also the best way to run the winning ad group after the system picks a winning ad group.

How to pause a split test

To pause a split test:

  1. Log in to TikTok Ads Manager.

  2. Navigate to the Ad group within your campaign.

  3. Click the On/Off toggle to the left of the Ad Group name.

  4. In the pop-up window, select Pause This Group Only or Pause Both.

Once you have paused the ad group, the ad group status will be "inactive" and the split test icon will no longer show. The budget from the paused ad group will transfer to the active ad group. Note: Audiences will only see the active ad group.


You can reactivate an ad group as a normal ad group and and it will run without the Split Test. Learn how to create a new split test.
