What is the TikTok Pixel for Shopify?

The TikTok Pixel is a piece of code placed on your website to share visitor actions taken on your website with TikTok's ad delivery system. This allows you to measure the effectiveness of your TikTok ads, show ads to users who may be interested in your products, and uncover insights to optimize your campaigns.


E-commerce advertisers of all sizes can leverage TikTok Pixel and Events API to measure and optimize their ad performance. Through TikTok's integration with Shopify, you can implement these data connections to your online store in just a few clicks.

What benefits does Events API bring to the integration?

Businesses are increasingly turning to server-side connections to share website data to power their marketing strategies as they adapt to new regulatory expectations and changes to how browsers operate. Events API is a server-to-server (S2S) integration that allows marketers to more reliably share website data directly from their servers without needing to rely on third-party party code placed on their website, which is reliant on connectivity and technologies such as cookies. This can improve performance by limiting the data lost due to connectivity issues and other browser limitations. On average, advertisers using TikTok Pixel and Events API together see:²

The server-side integration does not change the scope of data that is shared between Shopify and TikTok within the current pixel. We are simply changing the means by which this data is shared, in an effort to provide marketers with a more accurate view of audience, campaign performance and marketing attribution.


How to get started

Our enhanced integration with Shopify makes it super simple to implement our server-side connection. If you're already using the TikTok Pixel for Shopify, simply head to the TikTok app in your Shopify dashboard, and confirm your data sharing level is set to Enhanced or Maximum. TikTok allows you to choose how data is collected and shared between your Shopify store and TikTok. You have three data-sharing levels to choose from: Standard, Enhanced, or Maximum. Enhanced and Maximum levels now include the Events API integration.

  • Standard uses TikTok Pixel, a piece of code that you place on your website to measure traffic and understand the effectiveness of your TikTok ads.

  • Enhanced adopts effective data-sharing methods to share activity from your customers and improve ad performance. This includes using TikTok Pixel, Events API, and Advanced Matching.

  • Maximum combines all data-sharing options to optimize ad performance and reach the most customers. This level uses TikTok Pixel, Events API, Advanced Matching, Shopify APIs, and is constantly updated with the latest TikTok technology to share customer information.
