What is ad review?

We review ads and accounts to ensure a safe and user-friendly environment by making sure they comply with TikTok's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines.

Why were my ads rejected?

There are many reasons why your ad may have been rejected including violating our policies for ad creatives and landing pages or promoting a prohibited or restricted industry.

Why were my ad groups rejected?

An ad group can be rejected if one or more of the ads included in the ad group violates/violates our advertising policies. Make sure your ads are following these tips to ensure a smoother review process:

  • Make sure that your promoted products or services are not listed as prohibited industry according to our industry entry policy.

  • Avoid any misleading claims, false information, or sensational and shocking content.

  • Avoid any sort of infringement of intellectual property.

Are there any age restrictions for certain ads?

How long does it take to get a new ad group approved?

About Rejected Ads

What is the exact reason that my ad got rejected?

An ad is rejected when it violates our advertising policies. You may refer to the details provided on the ad rejection prompt which you can find on your Campaign tab's Ad Group and Ad lists.

When creating ads follow these general tips to ensure a smoother review process.

  • Make sure that your promoted products or services are not listed as prohibited industry according to our industry entry policy.

  • Make sure that text, image, caption, audio, video, landing page, and language in your ads are created in a consistent and appropriate way that wouldn't cause a bad user experience.

  • Avoid any misleading claims, false information, or sensational and shocking content.

  • Avoid any sort of infringement of intellectual property.

  • Avoid any political, religious, or culturally sensitive content.

Am I prohibited from promoting certain products?

Ads for some products and services are prohibited in all markets. And each country/region has a list of products and services that are prohibited or restricted.

If I put a disclaimer in my ads, can I promote alcoholic products?

The restrictions and prohibitions for selling alcohol differ for each country. If promoting alcohol is prohibited in your market, you won't be able to advertise it, not even with a disclaimer in your ad.

Does a person review my ads?

Yes, all ads are reviewed by us to ensure your ads follow the TikTok Community Guidelines and the TikTok Advertising Policies.

How do I get my ads reviewed?

Once they are set up, ads will be reviewed automatically. The process will take about 24 hours. You can also trigger an ad review whenever you edit your ad group's targeting location or your ad's creative (images, ad text, links, videos, etc.)

How do I fix an ad that was disapproved in different locations?

In adherence to varying laws and cultures, different countries might have different products and services that are prohibited from advertising. Please refer to the specific target country or territory for more information.

How do I know when my ads are approved?

You can check on the approval status of your campaign, ad group, and ad from the Campaign tab on TikTok Ads Manager.

How long does it take to review an ad or ad group?

Typically most ads are reviewed within 24 hours, although in some cases, it may take longer.

What can I do if my ad is stuck in review?

While some TikTok Ads might take longer than usual for the review process to complete, most TikTok Ads are reviewed within 24 hours. You will receive a notification once your TikTok Ads have been approved and published. If the Ad is rejected and there are changes that can be made to help publish your ad, you will be notified as well, through Ad Group in the TikTok Ads Manager platform.

What does it mean if my ads were rejected because the lead ads requested sensitive information?

Per our ad policies, you cannot use Lead Ads to request sensitive information, like financial or medical information. If you encounter this rejection reason, try updating your Instant Form or appealing the ad rejection from our Business Support channel.

What elements does my ad's landing page need to have?

It is likely that your landing page is violating one of TikTok’s Advertising Policies including, but not limited to the following:

  • The user is being directed to a non-functional landing page.

  • Language on the landing page is not consistent with ad languages and targeted regions.

  • The landing page does not contain a Privacy Policy and requests sensitive personal information.

About Resubmitting Ads for Review

How long does my TikTok ad need to be?

All video ads on TikTok should be between 5 and 60 seconds. Ads less than 5 seconds and more than 60 seconds will not be approved.


If the video is too long or too short, add a new ad to your ad group. Saving changes or editing ad creative will trigger an ad review, which may take up to 24 hours to complete.


If you need help making creative that is optimized for TikTok, try using one of TikTok Ads Manager's creative tools like Video Templates or Smart Video.

How do I resubmit an ad for review?

You can resubmit an ad for review by doing one of the following:

1. Saving or editing changes to your ad creative. This will automatically trigger an ad review, which may take up to 24 hours to complete.

2. Submitting an Advertiser Support ticket and requesting a re-review process. Our team will handle the wrongly rejected cases.

How do I resubmit an ad for review after changing something on my landing page?

No, only changes related to previously approved ads or ad groups will trigger a new review process. These changes may impact future ad reviews. Further, if you make changes to your website that are not in line with our landing page policies, it may cause viewers to report your ad.

Creative-Related Issues

What is wrong with my landing page?

It is likely that your landing page violates one of TikTok’s Creative and Editorial Advertising Policies including, but not limited to the following:

  • Users are being directed to a non-functional landing page.

  • Your landing page displays prohibited products.

  • Your ad creative is not consistent with the products or services on the landing page.

  • Your landing page's language is not consistent with the accepted languages in the countries/regions targeted by your ad group.

  • Your landing page does not display information as required by local regulations.

  • Your Landing page does not contain a Privacy Policy and requests users disclose personal information to access the site.

Can I run image ads on TikTok?

No, only video ads are allowed on TikTok. Image ads can only be placed on one of our News Feed Apps.
