TikTok Advertising Policies - Industry Entry

1. Prohibited Products or Services

  • Ads promoting the following products or services are prohibited in all countries and regions.
  • Cigarettes and Tobacco products - Cigarettes, cigars, tobacco, e-cigarettes, and other related products and services.
  • Drug-related products and services - Ads that depict or encourage the use of illegal drugs, drug paraphernalia, recreational drugs, drugs, or alternative products for weight loss.
  • Weapons - Use of dangerous weapons, including guns, explosives, knives, swords and other objects that are designed to cause harm to individuals. 
  • Police and military equipment.
  • Gambling - Including online gambling, casinos, and sports betting.
  • Sexual products and services - Adult entertainment and paraphernalia including pornography, sex toys, lubricants, and fetish costumes.
  • Political ads- Ads must not reference, promote, or oppose a candidate for public office, current or former political leader, political party, or political organization. They must not contain content that advocates a stance (for or against) on a local, state, or federal issue of public importance in order to influence a political outcome.
  • Counterfeit goods.
  • Products and services that enable dishonest behavior - Products that may infringe upon individual privacy,  products that may steal other people's personal information, products that may infringe upon a third party's properties, products that may steal other people's properties, or products or services assisting with falsification.
  • Animals- Buying or selling animals, live animals, livestock, and pets. Animal body parts/products from Rhino, Orangutan, Elephant, endangered or threatened animals including but not limited to organs, horns, ivory, bone, skin, fur, wool, leather, or teeth.
    • Exception:
      • Products for animals (toys, clothes, collars, cages, food, etc).
      • Pet services such as dog walking, pet care, pet cafes, pet grooming, training, etc.
      • Advertising content related to the adoption of animals is permitted for NGOs, NPOs, and stray animal shelters (no adoption services to be promoted for high breed pets or any invitation to join into mix-breeding of pets).
  • Other prohibited products or services- International brides, hazardous chemical products, trading of human organs and transplants, abortion, services of prenatal sex determination, HIV testing kits, protected wildlife and wild flora, funeral services.

Due to varying local requirements and cultures, countries and regions may have different prohibited products and services. Please refer to the following list of country/region-specific prohibited products or services for more information. Please note that the list may vary from time to time in accordance with local laws.

Australia

  • Ads promoting fantasy sports, bingo, or other gambling-related content.
  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits, etc.), alcohol clubs/subscription services, and alcohol making kits.
  • Ads for products or services that are specifically intended for or appeal to children, including toys, games, apps, and clothing. Advertisements marketed specifically toward children, even if the product may be for a general audience, are also prohibited.
  • Ads promoting single securities or other tradable financial assets, bail bonds, debt assistance programs, get rich quick schemes, pyramid schemes (including non-financial pyramid schemes) and multi-level marketing, penny auctions, binary options, cryptocurrency wallets, unaccredited digital banks that perform any traditional bank-like function, cryptocurrency credit or debit cards, initial coin offerings, token sales, or other means of promotion or advertisement of individual digital currencies or tokens.
  • Ads promoting prescription drugs.
  • Ad promoting weight loss/management fasting products or services.
  • Ad promoting weight loss/management supplements (including fat burning pills, appetite suppressants, weight loss/detox teas or lollipops).

Austria

  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits, etc.), alcohol clubs/subscription services, alcohol making kits, or alcohol sponsored events.
  • Ads for products or services that are specifically intended for or appeal to children, including toys, games, apps, and clothing. Advertisements marketed specifically toward children, even if the product may be for a general audience, are also prohibited.
  • Ads promoting investment products and multi-level marketing, penny auctions, binary options, cryptocurrency wallets, unaccredited digital banks that perform any traditional bank-like function, cryptocurrency credit or debit cards, initial coin offerings, token sales, or other means of promotion or advertisement of individual digital currencies or tokens.
  • Ads promoting fantasy sports, bingo, lotteries, or other gambling related content.
  • Ads promoting prescription medicines.
  • Ad promoting weight loss/management fasting products or services.
  • Ad promoting weight loss/management supplements (including fat burning pills, appetite suppressants, weight loss teas or lollipops).

Brazil

  • Ads promoting pyramid selling scams, products for avoiding tax, black-market financing, credit card arbitration, binary options, etc. 
  • Ads promoting lotteries, fantasy sports and simulated gambling. 
  • Ads promoting cryptocurrency related products or services.
  • Ads promoting prescription drugs and plastic surgery.

Belgium

  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits, etc.), alcohol clubs/subscription services, alcohol making kits, or alcohol sponsored events.
  • Ads for products or services that are specifically intended for or appeal to children, including toys, games, apps, and clothing. Advertisements marketed specifically toward children, even if the product may be for a general audience, are also prohibited.
  • Ads promoting investment products and multi-level marketing, penny auctions, binary options, cryptocurrency wallets, unaccredited digital banks that perform any traditional bank-like function, cryptocurrency credit or debit cards, initial coin offerings, token sales, or other means of promotion or advertisement of individual digital currencies or tokens.

  • Advertising for regulated professions, including, medical (doctors, dentists, veterinaries, pharmacists), legal (lawyers, bailiffs, notaries), financial (accountants, auditors, investment advisers) and architects.

  • Ad promoting weight loss/management supplements (including fat burning pills, appetite suppressants, weight loss/detox teas or lollipops).

Canada

  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits, etc.), alcohol clubs/subscription services, alcohol making kits, or alcohol sponsored events.
  • Ads for products or services that are specifically intended for or appeal to children, including toys, games, apps, and clothing. Advertisements marketed specifically toward children, even if the product may be for a general audience, are also prohibited.

  • Ads promoting baby food including, but not limited to, milk powder and dietary supplements. 
  • Ads promoting private healthcare products including, but not limited to, family planning products, and menstrual cups.
  • Ads promoting software and apps providing VPN or horoscope services.

Finland

  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits, etc.), alcohol clubs/subscription services, alcohol making kits, or alcohol sponsored events.
  • Ads for products or services that are specifically intended for or appeal to children, including toys, games, apps, and clothing. Advertisements marketed specifically toward children, even if the product may be for a general audience, are also prohibited.
  • Ads promoting investment products and multi-level marketing, penny auctions, binary options, cryptocurrency wallets, unaccredited digital banks that perform any traditional bank-like function, cryptocurrency credit or debit cards, initial coin offerings, token sales, or other means of promotion or advertisement of individual digital currencies or tokens.

  • Ads promoting prescription drugs,  antibiotic drugs, drugs that are not legally allowed to be promoted, and drugs that may contain harmful ingredients to the human body. 
  • Ads promoting medical institutions and private professional physicians including, but not limited to, surgeons, therapeutics, dentists, and Chinese physicians.
  • Ads promoting gambling related products or services.
  • Ads promoting private funds and loan sharks.

Hungary

  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits, etc.), alcohol clubs/subscription services, alcohol making kits, or alcohol sponsored events.
  • Ads for products or services that are specifically intended for or appeal to children, including toys, games, apps, and clothing. Advertisements marketed specifically toward children, even if the product may be for a general audience, are also prohibited.
  • Ads promoting investment products and multi-level marketing, penny auctions, binary options, cryptocurrency wallets, unaccredited digital banks that perform any traditional bank-like function, cryptocurrency credit or debit cards, initial coin offerings, token sales, or other means of promotion or advertisement of individual digital currencies or tokens.

  • Ads promoting alcohol, bars, or any other alcoholic products or services. 
  • Ads promoting drugs, including prescription drugs and pharmacies.
  • Ads promoting lotteries.
  • Ads promoting private healthcare products including, but not limited to, family planning products and menstrual cups.

Ireland 

  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits, etc.), alcohol clubs/subscription services, alcohol making kits, or alcohol sponsored events.

  • Ads promoting overseas real estate services. Bait-and-switch advertising on real estate is not allowed.
  • Ads promoting real money trade or paid gacha in games.

Malaysia

  • Ads promoting cryptocurrency or precious metal trading-related products or services.
  • Ads promoting drugs, including prescription drugs and pharmacies.
  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages, bars, or any other alcoholic products or services.
  • Ads promoting lotteries.
  • Ads promoting private healthcare products including, but not limited to, family planning products and menstrual cups.

Netherlands

  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits, etc.), alcohol clubs/subscription services, alcohol making kits, or alcohol sponsored events.
  • Ads for products or services that are specifically intended for or appeal to children, including toys, games, apps, and clothing. Advertisements marketed specifically toward children, even if the product may be for a general audience, are also prohibited.

  • Ad promoting weight loss/management fasting products or services.

Russia

  • Ads promoting the following financial services: pyramid selling scams, products avoiding tax, black-market financing, credit card arbitrary, binary options, P2P loans, cryptocurrency, precious metal trading, etc.
  • Ads promoting simulated gambling.
  • Ads promoting prescription drugs.
  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages, bars, and any other alcoholic products or services.
  • Ads encouraging plagiarism.

Saudi Arabia

  • Ads promoting cryptocurrency and P2P related products or services.
  • Ads promoting lotteries or simulated gambling.
  • Ads promoting prescription drugs and online pharmacies.
  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages, bars, or any other alcohol-related products and services.
  • Ads promoting baby food including, but not limited to, milk powder and dietary supplements. 
  • Ads promoting private healthcare products including, but not limited to, family planning products and menstrual cups.
  • Ads promoting software and apps providing VPN or horoscope services.

South Korea

  • Ads promoting cryptocurrency-related products or services.
  • Ads promoting professional drugs, some over-the-counter drugs with the same ingredients, components or administration as professional drugs, or online pharmacies.
  • Ads promoting lotteries.
  • Ads promoting certain private healthcare products.

Spain

  • Ads promoting alcoholic beverages (wine, beer, spirits, etc.), alcohol clubs/subscription services, alcohol making kits, or alcohol sponsored events.
  • Ads for products or services that are specifically intended for or appeal to children including toys, games, apps, and clothing. Advertisements marketed specifically toward children, even if the product may be for a general audience, are also prohibited.

Turkey

  • Ads promoting the following financial services: mortgages, loan sharks, binary options, CFDs, cryptocurrency, foreign exchange, P2P related etc.
  • Ads promoting drugs, including prescription and over-the-counter drugs, medical devices, and medical institutions.

Vietnam

  • Ads promoting cryptocurrency or P2P related products or services.
  • Ads promoting prescription drugs, drugs that are prohibited from being advertised in the relevant jurisdiction, pharmacies, or online pharmacies.
  • Ads promoting lotteries and fantasy sports.
  • Ads promoting private healthcare products including, but not limited to, family planning products and menstrual cups.
  • Ads promoting dairy products to be used as breast milk substitutes, dietary supplements for infants and babies, or artificial feeding bottles and pacifiers.
