From scrolls to sign-ups: How N26 acquired high-quality users in Germany and Spain.

N26 is a Berlin-based digital bank transforming how millions across Europe manage their money. With a mobile-first approach, the company offers a broad suite of digital financial services designed to make banking faster and more accessible.
Building on TikTok’s success for N26, the fintech focused on advancing its performance strategy and measuring the platform’s real impact. The main goal was to drive cost-efficient, high-quality app installs and registrations—prioritizing valuable, long-term customers—using advanced measurement tools and creative solutions.
N26 strategy included leveraging Smart Performance Campaigns (Smart+) for automated audience targeting and optimization, Creative Exchange for sourcing native TikTok creatives, and running targeted campaigns via In-Feed Ads using App Promotion as their primary objective.
To validate the platform's effectiveness, N26 undertook a rigorous measurement agenda across its two key markets in Spain and Germany. Two Conversion Lift Studies (CLS) were implemented in partnership with TikTok's Web & App Attribution tools and TikTok Measurement Solutions. These studies helped isolate TikTok's incremental impact on installs, registrations, and in-app engagement.
The performance-focused setup was further supported by a creative exchange collaboration in Germany, helping N26 tailor creatives specifically for TikTok's visual language and audience expectations.
The Conversion Lift Studies delivered exceptional results. In Spain, the TikTok campaigns drove a +37% increase in installs, and a +43% in registrations. In Germany, results were even stronger, with a +47% increase in installs, and a +49% in registrations.
These results highlight the impact of engaging TikTok-first creatives, a relevant product offering, a receptive audience, and TikTok's ability to drive incremental conversions. Also, by setting the campaign goal beyond "Installs" to include in-app "Registrations", N26 attracted more qualified users—confirming Smart+'s effectiveness deeper in the funnel.
Following these results, N26 increased its investment, scaled campaigns across multiple markets, and strengthened its position as a leading fintech brand on TikTok.
