The Objective

Increasing ROI with TikTok and Measurement Marketing Partner

Traveloka is Southeast Asia’s leading travel platform that provides travel, accommodation, event and financial services to customers in one central app. With Traveloka, customers are able to book flights, ground transport, accommodation and experiences at their destination, including city tours, dining vouchers, and even travel insurance. The company operates in six countries with a primary focus in Southeast Asia (SEA).


With continued growth across SEA, Traveloka needed to focus on its attribution data to support further scalability. The team knew they would need reliable strong partners to successfully target their intended demographics, while gathering relevant marketing data on the right app services that were frequently used by these audiences to achieve their core KPIs of decreasing their Cost Per Action (CPA) and Cost Per Install (CPI).


On top of that, Traveloka knew that to use its budget as efficiently as possible, it would need to find a partner that provides a marketing solution package that includes fraud detection and prevention of false installs


The Solution

Unlocking incremental value

Traveloka found the combination of partners they needed with TikTok and Adjust, an official TikTok Measurement Marketing Partner. Adjust provided essential marketing data across campaigns and in-app behavior through the use of its Mobile Attribution solution. With this pool of data gathered, Traveloka was able to narrow down the channels, campaigns and partners that were the most effective. Additionally, Adjust’s Fraud Prevention Suite mitigated the high level of fraudulent installs the team had been looking to avoid. This facilitated a more efficient use of budget which resulted in higher quality leads.


Using the relevant data provided by Adjust, Traveloka activated App Event Optimization (AEO) on TikTok. AEO allows clients to target users who have a greater chance of triggering a certain event like downloading their apps or making an in-app purchase (IAP), while maintaining a low cost.


With AEO, Traveloka was able to target the right audiences on TikTok based on their in-app behavior in order to drive app installs, flight purchases and hotel bookings. This allowed Traveloka to reach the specific goals of their campaign and help every dollar of ad spend go further.


TikTok also worked closely with Traveloka to maximize their paid and organic strategy, providing guidance on creatives and formats that would be suitable for their target market. TikTok’s integration with Adjust facilitated a quick campaign turnaround, improving targeting across all marketing funnels.



The Results

Performance and conversion uplift

Through working with TikTok and Adjust, Traveloka was able to increase its overall marketing efficiency while finding the right target audiences (Gen Z and Millenials) in a cost-effective way. With Adjust's Fraud Prevention Suite, Traveloka was also able to detect fraudulent installs on TikTok by 2.5 times compared to other channels, allowing them to relocate their advertising budgets towards the right channels.


As the partnership grows, it gives Traveloka confidence in navigating the future of advertising while ramping up the growth of its platform.
