Why was my TikTok ad rejected?

Ad rejection can be frustrating. Here are common reasons that may cause your TikTok ad to be rejected and a list of resources and steps to help you if it's not approved.

It's finally time. You've spent weeks, maybe months, thinking about your TikTok holiday ad campaign. You go to publish your ad and uh-oh...it's rejected. The first thing to do is to figure out WHY your ad was rejected. Then, you can edit your TikTok Ad and re-submit for review. If you cannot edit your TikTok Ad or feel it was mistakenly rejected, you can request a review of the decision by clicking into Advertiser Support. Below are some of the common pitfalls that may cause your ad to be rejected. Intellectual Property Infringement

TikTok respects the intellectual property rights of others, and we expect our advertisers to do the same. You should avoid using any elements without required permission in both your ad and your landing page. This includes brands, hashtags, copyrighted media, imitations and replicas. Ad Creative Consistency

To ensure a good user experience, TikTok requires that your caption, text, images, videos, and call-to-actions are consistent with the product/service you are promoting — this includes making sure the prices are the same on the promoted website. For example, your ad will be rejected if you introduce product A in your creative, but show product B on the website or you state there is a discount "up to 50% off", but your website states there is only a discount "up to 30% off." Misleading or Inconsistent Information

In the second quarter of 2021, we rejected 1,829,219 ads for violating advertising policies and guidelines. We want to ensure that ads on our platform are truthful, factual, and not misleading, so we require that ads do not contain an exaggerated performance or promise. Exaggerated claims can also pertain to images. Additionally, your creative and URL must not contain a malicious comparison to other brands and your creative cannot contain invalid buttons gestures, or texts that portray an unsupported functionality.
