Introducing Audience Insights

Today, to help advertisers better understand their audiences on TikTok, we're excited to introduce Audience Insights. Audience Insights is now available globally within TikTok Ads Manager.


With Audience Insights, you can:

  • Explore TikTok user interests, behaviors and demographics to maximize advertising results and find new ways to scale.

  • Discover aggregate audience information through easy-to-use filter settings - all before you've even created a campaign.

  • Strengthen your audience planning workflow with quantitative and qualitative data to bring your audience persona to life.

4 ways to use Audience Insights


1. Discover insights to plan your campaign

Get the most out of Audience Insights during your pre-campaign stage by using a range of filters to explore aggregate audience information:

  • Interest hashtags: Discover the top 10 your TikTok audience is interested in.

  • Interactions with hashtag, creator and video: Filter your audience by those who have interacted with a hashtag, by category of creators, by engagement (those who have watched, liked, commented or shared a video).

  • TikTok Custom Audiences: Learn about audiences who have seen, clicked, or engaged with your content or audiences you’ve uploaded via Customer File.

You can also segment your audiences by language, country, and even device price.*


2. Validate and learn about your audience

Audience Insights can help answer questions about an audience. Let's say a beauty advertiser wants to know: "What is the distribution of age, gender and geography of my audience? What are their interests?" They can view a high-level snapshot of the audience to gain a quick understanding of demographics, behaviors and interests. That same beauty advertiser could then validate, through qualitative and quantitative data, that their "eyebrow audience" is active on TikTok. This in turn allows them to more confidently communicate with those customers, and may inspire ad creative that they know will resonate.


3. Find inspiration for targeting and creative strategies

Audience Insights can help you discover new audiences beyond those that you traditionally target. If any surprising or unexpected interest categories appear, you can try targeting these interest categories to see how they perform. For example, the data may show that the beauty advertiser's audience is also interested in apparel and accessories, or in-app games. The advertiser may then consider targeting these interests to find new ways to scale.


4. Explore top hashtags and interest categories to plan your content

With Audience Insights, you can view the top 10 hashtags and top ad interest categories that resonate with your audience. Consider incorporating these hashtags or interests when targeting in a campaign, planning a theme, or incorporating hashtags in your video content. For example, the beauty advertiser who found their "eyebrow audience" may use top hashtags like #eyebrowmakeup to reach this audience.
