Helping Spanish bank BBVA reach new customers and boost conversions across Italy
Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria, better known as BBVA, is one of the best known multinationals in Spain. Less than a year ago, BBVA decided to take on a new challenge by launching BBVA as a 100% digital bank in Italy. With a goal of acquiring new customers and increasing website conversions, BBVA came to TikTok for a powerful promotional campaign across the country.
BBVA chose to run In-Feed Ads featuring Display Cards for their campaign, utilising the platform’s unmissable ad format, appearing in the For You feed as people explore content from across TikTok. Paired with the direct overlaid messaging of Display Cards, BBVA were able to include promotional texts and a CTA that encouraged users to visit their landing page and sign up to BBVA.
BBVA produced TikTok-specific content for their ads, which greatly improved engagement and sentiment across audiences. Making use of a viral trend, the creative featured filters, transitions, and soundtracks to ensure the message caught the audience’s attention. Paired with continuous optimisation and an irresistible value proposition, the campaign stormed to the top five performing ads within the TikTok ecosystem, achieving first place in the previous 30 days amongst campaigns with conversion targeting.
The BBVA campaign exceeded expectations in terms of both customer acquisition and cost per customer acquisition, proving TikTok’s unprecedented ability to act as a channel for attracting customers. A +15% increase in customers throughout the campaign proves this perfectly, while a +7% boost in click-through rate shows the effectiveness of traffic driving campaigns. Finally, a dramatic -20% drop in the cost of complete actions proves TikTok’s cost benefit over other platforms.
