Wyze is a Seattle-based smart home camera and device company with the mission of making smart home tech accessible to everyone. Focused on its goal of leveraging TikTok to reach new target audiences and monetize, the brand has made extensive use of TikTok Shop's affiliate selling program, Open Plan. Through Open Plan, Wyze provided product samples to creators, who then created UGC content about Wyze's products and were able to receive commissions for sales driven through their videos.


As Wyze scaled its affiliate selling program, it became clear that Promote was the tool it needed to succeed. With Promote, Wyze could leave behind the daunting task of building out full ad campaigns and utilize an intuitive advertising solution with ease and speed to boost the content of its affiliate creators.

In an effort to cast as wide of a net as possible to reach potential buyers, Wyze quickly recognised the power of Promote to boost its content's reach.


"It's as simple as hitting the Promote button, paying to promote a video, and doing this all in less than a few minutes," says Jimmy Hadden, Head of Social Commerce at Wyze.


Paired with the knowledge that younger audiences have become more desensitized to traditional advertising, Wyze adopted a strategy of finding authentic, high-quality UGC videos, then using Promote's "More Product Links" objective to drive users to its TikTok Shop.


Wyze tapped into the capability of Promote to boost the videos of other creators, often gaining between 5% and 10% conversions on those promoted videos, even while only using the default targeting settings.


"We throw a few dollars on Promote when we see good UGC videos from creators, allowing them to keep ownership of commission," said Hadden

The journey to the top

Generating over $122,000 in GMV from over 2,000 affiliate sales driven by Promote, it's clear that Promote has had a substantial impact on the Wyze business. UGC continues to remain Wyze's bread and butter, and its utilization of Promote coupled with the TikTok Shop program to expand its reach and introduce new customers to its business has proven a resounding success.
