Gambling and Games

Last updated: October 2025

Principle

Many people around the world find entertainment through games of chance. To support responsible gambling practices, gambling ads may not feature or appeal to young people. Ads showing gambling-like activities may also be limited in certain formats. See the Market-specific requirements section for more details.

We prioritize audience safety by restricting gambling and any monetized content directly encouraging gambling activities. Our policies aim to ensure a secure and positive environment for our community.

Policy

Our gambling and games ad policy covers several key areas including:

  • Certification requirements.

  • Details on geographic and age restrictions to ensure compliance across all markets.

  • Guidance on responsible gambling practices by setting expectations for how gambling should be promoted.

  • Content that is not allowed.

  • The different types of common gambling services.

Certification requirements

To advertise gambling services, you must go through our certification process. Find out more about our certification process at About the TikTok Industry Pilot Program. Certification ensures that we comply with local laws and our business standards. Our certification process requires you to provide documents that prove your licenses and legal compliance in your target market.

Geographic and age restrictions

  • Gambling ads are only allowed in specified markets where gambling is legal and when all local certifications and requirements are met.

  • Ads must be restricted to age-appropriate audiences; we do not allow gambling ads to be shown to minors.

  • Review the Market-specific requirements section for details on which markets allow gambling ads.

Promoting responsible gambling practices

Promote responsible gambling in your ads:

  • Include clear warnings about the risks; include all legally mandated gambling disclaimers and taglines.

  • Provide links to resources or hotlines for gambling addiction where possible.

  • Make sure that all promotions clearly define terms and conditions to help your audience feel confident and informed.

Content that is not allowed

We only allow ads that are in compliance with local laws governing gambling, or otherwise established as lawful in the delivery market.

Examples of what is not allowed:

  • Gambling ads that promote unlicensed or illegal gambling services.

  • Ads that mislead your audience with false offers.

  • Ads that fail to meet legal transparency requirements.

  • Ads that are directed at underage audiences.

  • Ads that feature underage people.

Types of gambling services

We group gambling services into two main categories:

  1. Gambling

    • Offline gambling

    • Online gambling

  2. Gambling-like activities

    • Non-casino games

    • Social casino games

    • Gambling information

Some services may have restrictions, so review the Market-specific requirements section for details on what's allowed in your target market.

  • Offline gambling: Offline gambling ads are the promotion of brick-and-mortar gambling venues. Examples:

    • Casinos

    • Gambling venues

  • Online gambling: Online gambling ads are the promotion of online wagering or betting, such as any online game of chance for money or other stakes, in any manner. Examples:

    • Online casinos: Online platforms that offer real-money gambling activities, such as slots, roulette, bingo, and other real-money games (RMG).

    • Sports betting: The act of placing a wager on the outcome of a sporting event. Bets are typically placed through platforms known as sportsbooks, which accept wagers and pay out winnings based on the results.

  • Non-casino games:

Non-casino game ads are the promotion of online games where participants can enter themselves into the game through payments, wagers, valuable items, or free submissions for a chance to win real money or other prizes. Examples:

    • Fantasy sports: A form of betting where participants contribute money to a shared pool, and winnings are distributed based on the outcomes of sports events, such as fantasy football or group betting pools.

    • Surprise-based products: Purchases that offer guaranteed rewards, where the exact reward is unknown, such as mystery boxes.

    • Sweepstakes or giveaways: Promotional events where participants can win prizes by chance, typically with no purchase required. These are product-focused promotions, not ongoing games of chance, and do not involve gambling or wagering money.

    • Lotteries: Games of chance that require payment to enter, where winnings are based entirely on chance, such as lottery tickets and scratchers.

    • Rewarded gaming: Skill-based games that offer real-money rewards based on participant performance rather than chance.

  • Social casino games: Virtual games that simulate traditional casino games, such as poker or slots, without monetary prizes. These games may include in-game purchases, such as coins or aesthetic items, but these have no real-world value and do not offer monetary rewards or wagering.

  • Gambling information: Content that provides insights, stats, or betting strategies designed to influence or improve betting outcomes.
