About Product Information and Ad Format Variations

The product information feature allows you to automatically generate different versions of your ads on TikTok. Once you complete the product information module, our system will automatically create multiple ad variations, helping to optimize performance and tailor the ad experience to different audiences.


Product information is dynamically generated based on original materials you provide, including your landing page URL, product catalog, app store information, and/or the details entered during creative upload. These generated suggestions will be presented to you for review and confirmation prior to activation.


Note: If you do not see this feature in TikTok Ads Manager, then it is not available to you at this time. Reach out to your TikTok representative to learn more.

Supported campaign settings

  • Buying type: Auction Ads, Smart+

  • Ad objectives: App Installs, Lead Generation, Sales

  • Ad format: Spark Ads and Non-Spark Ads


Why Use Ad Variations?

  • Automatic Generation: With our automated system, you only need to fill in the product information module. We will automatically generate multiple ad variations, ensuring that your campaign benefits from a variety of creative options.

  • Creative Customization: Once the product information is provided, our system will generate different ad versions and ad components , such as informative CTA and standard add-ons.


How to create Ad Variations

To create ad variations in a new ad campaign:

  1. Go to TikTok Ads manager.

  2. Create a new campaign.

  3. Select your Buying Type and Advertising Objective.

    1. Note: Auction Ads and Smart+ are the only supporting buying types at this time. App Installs, Lead Generation, and Sales are the only supported ad objectives at this time.

  4. Set up your Ad Group, and continue to Ad Creation.

  5. Enable the Identity toggle to create a Spark Ad, or turn it off to create a Non-Spark Ad (regular In-Feed ad).

  6. Select a single video and/or image as the Ad Format.

  7. Add your video and link.

  8. Add Product Information.

    1. If none of the fields has content, automatic generation will occur based on URL, Pixel, and historic content to generate.

    2. If some of the fields have content, you can click "update now" to re-generate content and replace the existing content.

    3. To manually add content, click "clear all" and fill in each option:

      1. Add product image: Recommend image size 800 x 800 pixels

      2. Add product title: Maximum of 40 characters

      3. Add selling points: Max of 10 selling points, 0-25 characters

      4. Note: Each of these fields is optional. The more detailed the information provided, the better the generated ad variations will perform.

  9. Click "Ad Variation" to see possible format variations

  10. Add CTA to complete your ad creative.

  11. Click Publish.


Dynamic Optimization of Ad formats

We may also dynamically optimize the display format of your ads based on performance data. As part of our commitment to improving ad performance. You will be able to see a preview within TikTok Ads Manager to see the dynamic content. Additionally, while we strive for timely updates, there might be some latency due to the use of third-party data sources, such as your publicly available information on the applicable app store. It's also important that you regularly check the accuracy of your selling points and your ad content, especially if you update your information on platforms like Shopify or your website.

We dynamically display different ad components to help maximize ad performance. This allows us to adapt the ad’s content to various formats and audiences. To ensure the best results, we strongly recommend that you fill out the Product Info feature. The more detailed the information provided, the more effective the generated ads will be in delivering relevant and persuasive messages.
