What is a Spark Ad?

Spark Ads is an ad format that uses organic TikTok content as the ad creative. The Spark Ads format allows you to create TikTok In-Feed Ads or TikTok TopView Ads using your organic posts or content made by creators (with their authorization).

How do I create a Spark Ad?

You can manage Sparks Ads by going to Tools, finding and clicking Creative library under the Creative tab, and finally clicking Spark Ad posts. You can create Spark Ads from the ad creation page by selecting the Spark Ads ad format. You can create Spark Ads by directly pulling existing content via authorization code, or via account linkage to access all Spark-available posts without any codes. You can also directly upload/create new videos on TikTok Ads Manager, which will then be published under your associated TikTok account upon passing ad review.

Note: Each TikTok Ads Manager account can support a maximum of 10,000 Spark Ads.


Will Spark Ads decrease my organic video views?

Using Spark Ads will not impact the number of views that you get on your organic posts as these run independently from the ad product. We discovered that organic view-impacted cases are caused by either lower quality content, lower favorability amongst the TikTok audience, or not adhering to the TikTok Community Guidelines.

What type of posts should I choose to run as Spark Ads?

We suggest our advertisers choose posts that have an existing and established number of organic likes and views. We discovered content that performs well organically are more likely to generate positive results, especially in View Through Rate.


Are Sparks Ads more suitable for branding ads than performance ads?

Spark Ads is an ad display format that can fulfill the needs of both branding ads and performance ads. Statistically speaking, Spark Ads outperform Non-Spark Ads (In-Feed Video) in View Through Rate, and engagement rate in a cost-efficient way. Spark Ads Page View Rate and CVR are significantly higher than that of non-Spark Ads, indicating users' trust in authentic, native ads.
