Branded Effect – Commercial Benefits Specs

Brand Exposure Limit

  • Logo: Each Branded Effect can include only one logo, and the display area must be within 150x130px.

  • Product: No limit; the display area must be within 150x130px.

  • Promotion: Includes slogan and campaign theme; the display area must be within 300x130px.

  • ​Spokesperson and IP figure: No limit; the display area must be within 480x270px.


Branded Effect Name

Effect Name character limit: up to 30 English characters. We recommend keeping the effect name under 18 English characters to ensure that the Effect Name displays within the top row on major mobile devices.

Effect Name doesn't support emojis and special symbols, including #.


Branded Effect Icon

  • ​You can provide your own icon or use an icon designed by TikTok.

  • ​Your icon image must be consistent with your Branded Effect.

  • ​The full design canvas should be 162x162px and your safe design area will be 144x144px, with 20px round corners. The icon must have rounded corners and transparent bleed area.

  • ​File format: PNG

  • ​Safe area: 144x144px

  • ​Export size: 162 x162px

  • ​File size: < 60KB


Branded Effect "Featured" Video Tag

  • ​The "Featured" tag will be added to the brand/influencer videos on the Branded Effect detail page with a maximum of six videos.

  • ​An explanation of the video tag will be automatically added at the end of the Branded Effect description on the Branded Effect page. If there are no videos marked as "Featured", there will be no explanation in the Branded Effect description.

  • ​The "Featured" tag and the explanation of the video tag support local language versions and automatically match the user TikTok App's language.


Branded Effect Hint Text

  • ​You must provide the text that explains trigger movements. The Hint Text shows up when people click on the effect in the panel, and explains how to use the effect.

  • ​Hint Text character limit: Up to 48 English characters. We recommend keeping the Hint Text under 24 English characters to ensure that it displays within the top row on major mobile devices. Hint Text doesn't support emojis and special symbols, including #.

  • ​The text must precisely match the trigger function details, and can't be misleading.


Official Music

  • ​Cover image: 800x800. Place the key brand elements in the center of the circle area (260px diameter).

  • ​Image file size: 10MB or less.

  • ​Music format: MP3, wav.

  • ​Track length: 15s.-1min. 15s is the recommended length. If the Official Music track is longer than 15s, people with older app versions might be unable to use the entire track when recording their own TikTok video.

  • ​Character limit: Up to 60 English characters for the song name and no character limit for the artist's name. The recommended character length for the song and artist's name: up to 12 English characters. Avoid using emoji and special symbols.

  • ​You must provide music copyright documentation.

  • ​You must sign the authorization letter authorizing TikTok to upload the music and allowing people on TikTok to use this music.


Branded Effect Page

Sponsor Display/Disclaimer

Option 1: You provide your User ID for sponsored display

  • ​An ad icon will show up before your brand name above the Branded Effect description. People can click the ad icon to go to your TikTok profile.

  • ​If you use your Effect Page to give a prize to a selected winner, you must add sponsor copy: "Sponsored by: brand name. Not associated with Apple Inc." in the first row of the Branded Effect description.

  • For BEs that are set up with a brand account button, a copy of the explanation will be: "{brand_name} uses 'Featured' tags to mark videos produced with creators or made by themselves."

Option 2: You don't provide your User ID for sponsored display

  • ​If you don't have a TikTok account, your brand name won't be displayed next to the ad icon. In this case, sponsor information – "Sponsored by: brand name" will be displayed in the disclaimer box below the Branded Effect description.

  • ​Character limit: Up to 300 English characters.

  • ​The external link, emojis and special symbols in the disclaimer are not supported.

  • ​If you use your Effect Page to give a prize to a selected winner, you must add sponsor copy: "Sponsored by: brand name. Not associated with Apple Inc." in the first row of the Branded Effect description.

  • For BEs that are not set up with a brand account button, a copy of the explanation will be: "The sponsor uses 'Featured' tags to mark videos produced with creators or made by themselves."

Note: You can only select Option 1 OR Option 2 to set up your Branded Effect.

Branded Effect: Description

  • ​No character limit. The description will auto-collapse after 4 lines, but people can click the Expand button to see the full description.

  • ​The description may include emojis (v11). Emojis may look different across different devices and operating systems, and some v11 emojis may not be supported on certain Android devices.

  • ​The description can't contain &, <, >, "", or URLs.


Landing Page External Link

1. You can include only one external link.

  • ​Direct users to another app: You must provide a web URL that starts with “https://” AND a schema URL (e.g:ulikeabroad://main/looks?looks_id=8002612)

  • ​Direct users to an app store: You must provide a OneLink.

  • ​Direct users to a landing page: You must provide a web URL that starts with “https://”

2. You can customize the text of the external link; up to 30 English characters (doesn't support emojis and special symbols). If the text exceeds the 30 English characters limit, it might be cut off on major mobile devices (recent update).

3. You can customize the text of the landing page title; up to 20 English characters (does not support emojis and special symbols). If the text exceeds the 20 English characters limit, it might be cut off on major mobile devices (recent update).


Official Videos

  • ​You can select one to six videos under the Branded Effect page and set them as Official Videos. The Official Video will be placed at the top of all other User Generated Content videos.

  • ​The Official Video description must contain #ad. For content localization, please refer to the 3rd and 4th columns of the below document.

Branded Effect Panel

Sponsor Mark
  • ​If you are located in US / UK / FR / DE / IT / ES / BE / SA / AE / TR / TH / MY / VN / ID / AU / TW / HK / SG / CA, you MUST provide the text and image as Sponsor Mark with the text: "Sponsor: XXX;" up to 30 English characters (does not support emojis and special symbols).

  • ​Image specs:

    • Format: png.

    • Height (fixed): 40px

    • Length: between 40px to 96px

    • ​Image size: < 200K

  • ​For the rest of the markets, Sponsor Mark is optional. You can provide the text (up to 30 English characters; does not support emojis and special symbols) and image.

  • ​A normal Branded Effect can display Sponsor Mark when it's selected in the Branded Effect panel. However, all Interactive Engineer-produced Gamified Branded Effects (GBEs) are created within the minigame frame. IE-produced GBEs have a unique shooting page and Sponsor Mark appearance.

Normal Brand Effect Sponsor Marks

When a normal Branded Effect is selected on the Effect Panel, it'll display Sponsor Mark in the top left as follows:

  • Open the Branded Effect panel without anything selected.

  • When you select a Branded Effect, the Sponsor Mark will be displayed in the top left corner.

  • When you unselect the Branded Effect, close the panel, or click the shooting button, the Sponsor Mark will disappear.

Interactive Engineer (IE)-Produced Gamified Branded Effect (GBE) Sponsor Marks

IE-Produced GBEs have a unique shooting page and Sponsor Mark. When an IE-produced GBE is selected on the Effect Panel, it'll display Sponsor Mark in the bottom left as follows:

  • Open the Branded Effect panel without anything selected.

  • When you select an IE-produced GBE, the Brand Effect panel will close to reveal the Sponsor Mark displayed in the bottom left corner.

  • The Sponsor Mark won't be displayed if IE-produced GBE is unselected.
