How to troubleshoot Pixel activations not showing in TikTok Ads Manager

Last updated: March 2025

This article will help you troubleshoot concerns related to Pixel activations not showing for lead generation ads, website conversions, sales, and app pre-registration campaigns. To resolve this, you must "activate" the Pixel by triggering an event on your site.

For example, if your campaign aims to optimize toward a complete payment event, then you must make a purchase on your site to optimize for this event.

Before you begin

  • Ensure you've set up the Pixel event. Learn more about TikTok Pixel.

  • There may be lag between the Pixel event activating and the data showing within TikTok Events Manager. That is okay and it could take up to 24 hours, or slightly more depending on the website environment.

  • Validate if the Pixel event triggered by using TikTok Pixel Helper. Learn more about how to troubleshoot with Pixel Helper.

How to troubleshoot Pixel events not being active for certain ad objectives, like Sales.

To troubleshoot Pixel activations not showing:

  1. After installing the pixel, go to your website and complete the desired action (such as add to cart or complete purchase).

    1. Note: The action must be an actual purchase or lead form submission for the activation to work. We recommend using a 100% coupon code or a test credit card (if available) for purchases and related actions. This cannot be done from the test event tab.

  2. Wait 24 hours for the event data to populate within events manager.

    1. Note: You can see when the event was fired within the TikTok Events Manager Pixel Details Page.

  3. Go to TikTok Ads Manager.

  4. Go to your ad group settings.

  5. Click the dropdown below Data Connection.

  6. Select the correct data connection (Pixel).

  7. Click the dropdown below Optimization event.

  8. Confirm your optimization event is populating. It should say "Active" in your events manager dashboard.

Note: If still not populating after triggering the event, make sure to wait the full 24 hours. Depending on the website environment, there may be a delay. Learn more about how to troubleshoot with Pixel Helper.
