Before getting started: Smart Text is not available for advertisers in the US or Canada.


Smart Text is a text generation tool that helps you quickly create relevant text captions for your ads based on your industry and products. You can also you Smart Text's Translation Assistant to translate content into over 50 different languages.


Overview

Smart Text is easy to use and requires just three inputs industry, ad text language, and keywords to generate relevant captions for your ad. Smart Text can generate ad text in English, German, Japanese, Russian, and Vietnamese.

You can also use Smart Text's Translation Assistant to translate any text into over 50 different languages automatically.

Smart Text Walkthrough

There are two ways to access Smart Text: during the ad creation process or when editing an existing ad.


Accessing Smart Text at the ad Level

  1. ​Select any advertising objective at the campaign level.

  2. ​Create your ad group.

  3. ​At the ad level, click Smart Text under the Text & Link module.


Note: Smart Text supports both Automated Creative Optimization (ACO) enabled ad groups and regular ad groups.


Accessing Smart Text by Editing An Ad

  1. ​Access the Campaign > Ad tab.

  2. ​Find an ad, then click Edit.

  3. ​Click Smart Text under the Text & Link module.


Using Smart Text

From the Smart Text pop-up:

  1. ​Select an Industry and Ad Text Language, and enter a Keyword,

    1. ​Because Smart Text supports cross-lingual text generation, you can enter a Keyword using any major language, and Smart Text will generate the text according to the selected Language.

    2. ​For example, if you select Japanese as the Language and input the Keyword in English, Smart Text will generate ad texts in the Japanese language, based on your English keyword.

  2. ​Click Generate; this will create ten ad text options.

    1. ​To generate more options using the same inputs, click Generate.

    2. ​To generate new options using different inputs, edit the Industry, Language, or Keyword and click Generate.

  3. ​Choose your Generated Text, then click Confirm.

    1. ​For regular ads, you can select one.

    2. ​For ACO-enabled ads, you can select five.

  4. ​Now the Generated Texts will appear in your ad's text field.


Now you can either edit the text or use them as-is and continue creating or editing your ads.


Note: Saving an edit to an existing ad will trigger a new ad review.


Translation Assistant

Smart Text's Translation Assistant allows you to instantly translate any ad text into over 50 languages. You can use this feature to translate your own ad text or copy generated using Smart Text.


Accessing the Translation Assistant

There are two ways you can access the Translation Assistant.

  1. ​By clicking the Translation button in the Text & Link module on the ad creation or edit ad page.

  2. ​From the Translation tab on the Smart Text tool.


Using the Translation Assistant

How you use the translation assistant will depend on how you accessed the tool.

When creating or editing an ad

  1. ​Enter your copy in an ad's Text field.

  2. ​Click Translation to launch Smart Text's Translation tab.

  3. ​From the Language Setting module.

    1. ​Select the language you used to enter your text or use Auto Detection.

    2. ​Select the language you want your text translated into.

  4. ​Review your original text, and adjust if needed.

  5. ​Click Confirm.


Now the translated text will appear in your ad's text field.


Note: You can use the Translation Assistant to translate ad text for regular and ACO-enabled ads.


When using Smart Text

After you generate your text using the Smart Text tool, you can use the translation assistant to translate your copy into over 50 different languages.

  1. ​Generate your ad text using Smart Text.

  2. ​Select a Generated Text you like, then click Translate.

  3. ​From the Language Setting module.

    1. ​Select the language you used to enter your text or use Auto Detection.

    2. ​Select the language you want your text translated into.

  4. ​Review your original text, and adjust if needed.

  5. ​Click Confirm.


Now the translated text will appear in your ad's text field.


Note: You can use the Translation Assistant to translate Smart Text created for regular and ACO-enabled ads.
