How to create and apply Automated Rules
Last updated, March 2024

Automated Rules let you create rule-based tasks to automatically check and manage your campaigns, ad groups, and ads on TikTok Ads Manager. You can use Automated Rules to monitor and adjust your campaigns in real-time.

Create a New Rule

Note: If you create a rule using a template, you can still adjust the rule's settings as you see fit.

  1. Log in to TikTok Ads Manager.

  2. Go to the Campaign tab, click Automated Rules, and choose Create a New Rule.

  3. Choose the type of rule you want to create:

    • Create a custom rule: Create a rule without a template.

    • Schedule delivery: Turn on your ad at a specific time.

    • Unlock potential: Raise the bid for ads with the potential to get more results.

    • Enhance performance: Increase the budget for ads that are performing well.

    • Control budget: Turn off ads with unexpectedly high costs.

  4. Under Apply Rule To, select the objects (campaigns, ad groups, ads) to which you want to apply the rule.

  5. Define the Conditions that will trigger your rule to be applied. Each rule supports up to five conditions.

  6. Set the Action that you want to take when the condition is met.

  7. Use the Rule Settings module to determine when you want to run the rules. Choose from:

    • Run Continuously: Run the rule every 30 minutes.

    • Custom: Customize the schedule to run the rule every 30 minutes on specific days and time periods.

    • Once: Run the rule at a specific date and time and this rule will be automatically turned off after running.

  8. Turn on the Notify Me toggle to receive an email every time all the conditions are met. Use the Recipients field to add members of your Business Center to the send list.

  9. Determine your Notification schedule, select Notify me every time, to receive an email each time the rule's conditions are met, or choose Send notifications together around a specific time.

    • If you choose to receive notifications at a specific time, you can select up to three times during the day to receive notifications when your rule's conditions are met.

  10. You can also turn on the Also notify me if conditions aren't met toggle to receive an email every time the rule runs, even if the conditions are not met.

  11. Name your rule and click Complete.
