When you import an ad, problems may arise due to the file or content failing to import. Possible issues might include:
Incompatible template and version headers
Incorrect input in campaign- or ad group- or ad-level fields
Ensure that the file format of your CSV file is CSV UTF-8. We recommend using Excel 2016 or later versions to prepare your import spreadsheets.
To troubleshoot content failing to import due to: Incompatible template versions and headers
Ensure the template is compatible by checking it belongs to the account you are currently using.
Check that you are using the latest version of the template.
Check that you did not delete any columns or change any of the column names.
Check that the language of your template's headers is consistent with the language setting on TikTok Ads Manager. For example, if the headers of the file you are uploading are in Japanese, you need to set the language on TikTok Ads Manager to Japanese.
Incorrect campaign-level fields
Ensure the Campaign ID column field is empty to create a new campaign. Do not adjust the campaign ID if you're editing ads.
Ensure the Campaign ID and other fields comply with the formatting requirements.
For example:
✅ id:1667930209559606
❌ 1667930209559606
Use a unique campaign name that doesn't belong to another campaign on your account.
Ensure that your inputs follow the case-sensitive and language requirements for their fields. For example, the Objective field must have the first letter capitalized and budget type only supports English.
Ensure that you have not included extra spaces between words.
Ensure that any numbers you enter use the correct number of decimal places. For example, accounts that use USD need to use two decimal places in the budget and bidding section. None of your inputs should contain currency symbols, like "$".
For example:
✅200.01
✅200
❌200.001
❌200 USD
Incorrect ad group-level fields
Ensure the Ad Group ID field is empty if you are creating a new ad group within an existing campaign. If you're editing ad group settings, do not delete the Ad Group IDs. The ad group name should be unique, not belonging to another ad group on your account.
Ensure that you are not missing any required fields by hovering your mouse over the header on an Excel file or reading the text in the second row on a CSV UTF-8 file.
Check that any punctuation added to an input field uses English characters like a comma.
For example, if you want to select multiple placements, the Placement column should be entered as follows:
✅Tiktok,News Feed App Series,Pangle
❌Tiktok、News Feed App Series、Pangle
Check that your ad group's Start Time is after the time the file will be imported. For example, if you expect to import the file at 11:30 a.m., set the Start Time to 12:00 p.m.
Incorrect ad-level fields
Ensure the Ad ID field is empty if you want to add a new creative within an existing ad group. If you're editing ad settings, do not delete the Ad IDs.
Ensure the file name of your video, image, or playable ad is entered in the template exactly the same as it appears on your Assets in Creative on TikTok Ads Manager.
