About Managing Custom Audiences in TikTok Ads Manager

You can use Custom Audiences to reach users who have already engaged with your business. Leveraging Custom Audiences for targeting is effective for remarketing and retention strategies. Custom Audiences can be created on TikTok Ads Manager (TTAM) or via APIs.

Features

You can manage Custom Audiences to:

  • Add data: Upload a file you would like to add to your audience. Only new data will be added.

  • Remove data: Upload a file you would like to remove from your audience. Only existing data will be removed.

  • Replace data: Original audience data will be replaced after the upload of the data file. The audience ID will not be changed.

  • Edit audience name: You can edit the audience name any time.


Benefits

On the audiences page in TikTok Ads Manager, you can access:

  • Audience application details: Shows the relationship between the ad groups and audience.

  • Disconnect ad groups: Disconnects the ad groups which are applied to the audience.

  • Audience history: Shows the activity log for creating and editing audience data.


Custom Audience considerations:

  • It takes 24-48 hours for an uploaded list to be available for use as a Custom Audience.

  • You need at least 1,000 identifiers in the uploaded customer file matched with users on the platform in order to make the Custom Audience available.

  • Your audience may expire if you haven't used it for a long period. The availability status becomes "unavailable" and the only option is to delete the audience from the library.
