How to set up and view catalog match rate

Last updated: August 2024

To set up catalog match rate:

  1. Create and add products to your catalog in Catalog Manager.

  2. Set up your pixel or app in Events Manager.

    1. Ensure that the content_ID of your events follows the same format as the SKU ID in your catalog.

    2. Catalog Manager currently supports three pixel or app event types: ViewContent, AddtoCart, and CompletePayment.

  3. Go to Catalog Manager. Select Event Sources to connect your pixel or app to your catalog.

When your catalog and event source are first connected, expect that it could take several days for your match rate to stabilize.

After you've set up the catalog match rate, you can view it.

  1. Go to Catalog Manager and select Event Sources.

  2. Select a connected pixel or app to view its match rate.

  3. Click the connected pixel or app to view more about your events matching, historic trends, and issues that may be lowering your match rate.

Note: The match rate should stay relatively the same for a 7-day lookback window. Replacing your catalog or making substantial changes to your product volume can impact your match rate. Changes of +/-20% can indicate a misconfiguration. For more details, refer to Troubleshooting catalog match rate issues.

If you are connecting a single global pixel or app to multiple country catalogs, you may notice some changes in your match rates in TikTok Catalog Manager. Starting May 31, 2024, match rates will be tailored to match the origin country of your catalog. This enhancement ensures accuracy and empowers you to optimize your ads more effectively within specific regions. For example, if you have a catalog created for the United States, you will receive insights into the number of user events in the United States that matched with products in that catalog.
