About the TikTok Ads Manager setting for deep funnel optimization

Deep funnel optimization for lead generation campaigns helps you optimize deeper funnel events. When the deep funnel optimization toggle is turned on, the event that is triggered after the first event you select will be pre-filled. Events that have posted back a sufficient amount are prioritized and recommended.


Specifically, you will need to postback more than 50 attributed deeper-funnel events in the past 14 days for each ad group, demonstrating a clear conversion funnel with deeper-funnel signals (events) triggered after the upper-funnel signals (events).


When you create a lead generation campaign, the deep funnel optimization toggle may be automatically turned on if you've already set up pixel postback and are actively sending signals.You can turn the toggle off at any time.


You can select a different event by hovering over the event in the dropdown box. Choose events from either the Recommend tab or the Other tab.

Event labels

Events are labeled to help you understand which ones are eligible optimization. The follow labels are availble:

  • Recommended for deep funnel optimization: This event generated more than 50 deep funnel signals in the past 14 days. We recommend using this event for deep funnel optimization to help improve your lead quality.

  • More events needed: This event needs to generate more than 50 deep funnel signals in 14 days to support deep funnel optimization.

  • Might not be a deep funnel event: This event might be triggered before the first event. Use a deep funnel event that happens after the first event.

  • Eligibility pending: Event data recently sent for deep funnel optimization will take time to analyze to determine eligibility.

  • No activity received in the past 90 days: Check that you've successfully set up the data connection and can receive test events.
